These little grey cells. It is up to them.--Agatha Christie

Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor, a non-linear puzzle-packed adventure featuring the teen detective's most ominous and mystical case ever, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

A shadow has befallen the Blackmore Manor and its inhabitants. The staff whispers of a curse and there are evident signs of witchcraft to be found around the property. There's an angry howling in the nights and there's no way that it can be simply attributed to wind. Something is very, very wrong in the old British mansion and it seems that everyone living there, or merely passing through, puts their life in a grave danger. Luckily Linda Penvellyn, the lady of the house, managed to call for help before she was struck down with strange illness. Who did she call? Why, of course you--Nancy Drew!

Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor is an adventure game featuring the famous teen detective. The Blackmoor Manor that serves as the scene to the mystery you'll be solving is an intriguing place, and its exploration is both challenging and enjoyable--even more so, that the game doesn't force any particular order in which you must solve the puzzles. Speaking of puzzles, there's much variation to them so if you're stuck at one, you'll always get the chance to change the pace and come back to the problematic part later. With a story focusing on things like witchcraft, curses and lycanthropy, this is the darkest of the Nancy Drew games, but it's still well within limits of content appropriate for the young gamers.

Power up those little gray cells and solve the incredible mystery presented in Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

Starsmine: how did stay tuned for danger get such a high score? I thought that was the weekest of the bunch.
Also I seemed to have enjoyed the first one more then they did.

Looks like alot of ranking between the games on that site I dont agree with. like I thought crystal skull was very weak.
The site's reviews are usually pretty good, meaning you can agree with what they liked or disliked about the game, and if you don't agree with their rating it's probably just that you weigh the factors differently. I also thought the first game wasn't so bad, but I agree with the criticisms that they point out.

I think RoushiMSX puts it well, almost the most important thing in deciding whether you'll like a particular Nancy Drew game is how much you can get into its theme. The objective quality of the games varies. I wouldn't say that there have been any everyone-must-play classics, but also none that were so bad they weren't fun anymore. They're like a dime novel predictable and somewhat by the numbers, but good entertainment if you enjoy the genre.
... The character models are unintentionally creepy and aren't animated very well, the voice acting isn't the best, the interface can be a bit limited and sometimes you're stuck playing around in a time wasting game of luck instead of solving an actual puzzle (like when you have to play Bul), but for the most part, this is a pretty enjoyable game. Where it really falters, however, is in the significant amount of bugs that plague the puzzles throughout the game (wait until you get to the frog/pond puzzle...), and it's quite possible to run into a number of game breaking glitches in this one. ...
How can anyone write such a review and then give 4 stars? It seems like 3 stars at most judging from the review.

Because it's still fun and interesting enough that the bugs don't torpedo the experience. You need to be willing to tolerate a less-than-AAA presentation, but given that this place is pretty much dominated by people that aren't graphics snobs, then that shouldn't be much of a problem.

Like I've said before, if you dig the theme then you probably won't have a problem sinking right into it and looking past its issues. It's a great entry point for the franchise and one of the releases I've used in the past to introduce other people to the Nancy Drew series.
