12-bit and proud!

Mutant Mudds, the retrotastic run 'n' gun platformer featuring perfectly pixelated graphics, and charmingly chirping chiptune music, is now available for 20% off on GOG.com! That's only $7.99 in the release week.

When a strange meteor crashes into the face of the Earth, bringing with it an invading force of strange muddy creatures, only Max and his trusty water cannon stand between the forces of order & hygiene and the fierce fiends of filth. Having no other choice, he sets off to cleanse the world: running, jumping, hovering, and blasting the filthy intruders down the drain. In his search for the mysterious Water Sprites--the only force that can repel the pollution once and for all--he will explore many cleverly designed stages, flipping through foreground and background plane, and searching for secrets.

Mutant Mudds brings the classic run 'n' gun gameplay into an originall "12-bit" setting that makes the game's art-style unique and instantly recognizable. The PC version of Mutant Mudds features 20 previously unseen worlds (which adds up to 60 in total). Each stage offers three different challenges that should satisfy even the most demanding platformer fans. On GOG.com the game comes with a 24-track chiptune soundtrack that will blast you off into the golden age of gaming arcades. Get ready to pounce the pixelated platforms!

Grab your water cannon and rid the world of the messy menace of the Mutant Mudds for this week's special price of $7.99!
Picked them game up on impulse and honestly it's a solid platform title. Great retro feel and has that easy to learn difficult to master aspect like the games of old.
I'm glad to see this here, will buy it sometime.
I'll grab it along with a pre-order for Inquisitor this weekend when I'll have enough cash.
This game was turned down by Steam, though I would imagine that I will eventually get there through the Greenlight project.
Something I would like to love on the PSP. I love the pixelated art (and you have to commend any game that has an in-game intentional CGA mode), it also has some unique concepts like that of playing in the background the scene.

That said, from the trailer I think the gameplay looks a bit too slow... and the movements seem not very dynamic. I don't know how to explain, something about the jumps always having an apparent same height and width (see any Mario, Sonic or Cave Story gameplay to tell the difference). I don't know...

Contra had fixed jumps, but was helluva dynamic

I... don't know, you sure? Anyway Contra < Mario.
Mutant Mudds does not have fixed jump height. I know, I've already plowed my way through all sixty levels, and at the moment, I'm at the top of the leaderboards in every level, so yes, I'm sure, and yes, I've played it. It is a very good game. :D

I'm sure, I recently finished it :)

THe controlable mario-esque jumps are harder to master, for sure.

Contra's still a good example of a better attempt though. From the trailer it appears Mutants Mudds plays noticeably slower than Contra dont you think? Kind of too slow.

But this is more like platforming with some guns, than the constantly war of the Contra series...
