High fantasy and modern-day technology in RPG-RTS fusion.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/heroes_of_annihilated_empires]Heroes of Annihilated Empires, a fantasy RTS with RPG elements from the makers of Cossacks and American Conquest, is available now on GOG.com for $9.99.

Heroes of Annihilated Empires is a magic-themed strategy game with four playable races: the Elves (Sylvan Folk), the Mechanicians (technologically advanced dwarves), the Cryo Race (barbarians with a specialty in cold magic), and the Undead (Zombies, Skeletons, Werewolves, and other cuddly creatures). Story centers around Elhant, an Elven Ranger, and his attempts to save his world from destruction by the undead Legions of Ashes. The game’s dark fantasy storyline, created by Ukrainian novelist Ilya Novak and told with graphic novel-inspired cutscenes and voiceovers, is one of the strongest points of the game.

Those familiar with previous strategie games by GSC already know how players can collect insanely huge numbers of units, and how great the battles of thousands look. In the RTS part of Heroes of Annihilated Empires, you build, gather, train, and finally defeat your opponents. In RPG ‘mode’, the player’s hero (Warrior, Ranger, or a Mage) is the leader of an army, and charges into battle to fight evil one on one, wearing loot collected from past battles, casting spells, gaining experience, and becoming more powerful in your quest to win.

Whether you’re into action RPGs or massive RTS battles, Heroes of Annihilated Empires is an original and interesting take on fantasy strategy, available now on GOG.com for $9.99.

GOG.com: (...) and the Undead (Zombies, Skeletons, Werewolves, and other cuddly creatures).
Damnit - who dares to call werewolves "cuddly" >_< ?

Also - I guess herding bytes is cheaper 'round here, 'cause we get this game for pretty much 50% less than on Steam (14,99€) @_@.
Fists up for STALKER!
Never heard of this before, but it looks nice.
Wishlisted.
This game looks interesting to me I will wishlist for now
Enjoy a seamless combination of RTS and RPG gameplay with a possibility to combine or choose between one and the other.

Leroux: Does that mean you can play it as a RPG without worrying about the RTS aspects?
I tried a demo forr a few minutes a long time ago. From what I recall there are seperate modes. I think there's a basic campaign that you don't get a choice about, and then there are dedicated RTS and RPG modes. Redownloading the demo now to refresh my memory.

Edit- Got the game confused with another RTS/RPG hybrid, Dimensity, so can't say for sure. There's a demo out on various places though.

I had an issue with the retail version, where I couldn't copy the saves between installs. Because of unskippable cutscenes, I could never be assed to restart the game...
Well the demo gives me the video memory error. The game seems really interesting, but I'm only going to actually be interested in it when that proves to be solved.
I actually bought this dirt cheap a couple of years ago

It can be fun but it also has a lot of issues as well

Anyway, as other people said, I'm waiting for S.T.A.L.K.E.R from GSC
How is the multiplayer? Things like how many players can you play with, what gamemodes exist and such. If the multiplayer is decent I might pick it up.
low rated

n99127: Hmm, wondering if this release has the graphical/text corruption that is mentioned here:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=776502

I guess I'll find out later tonight. Wishlisted until then.
Closest I got to the fix you mentioned here was as follows

Follow that link to download the patch listed there
Go to Bios and set AGP apature size if card is AGP (no need if not)
When Windows boots up
Type MSCONFIG
Go to the tab Boot and then Advanced Options
Set Ram to 2GIg at first and raise if needed
Set to 1 Processor
(never tried PCI lock - but try that 3rd)
Set the EXE to comaptible Xp with SP2 mode)

And thats all I can say - I played it for a short while only and gave in not because of the game, but because another game came along

No, it's just that we aren't one with the GOG wishlist yet. Have no fear, I heard we are getting some new equipment and I believe I heard the word "augmentation" being used soooo :P
Btw: what is the situation at the ukrainian company GSC? I remember they are very close to bankrupty. Could it be that they cease to exist soon and the games will begone from GOG?

Yes, that's exactly what it means. You can supplement your hero with an army, simply have an immense army (devastating in early game) or not bother with armies at all. That aspect of the game is done well.

htown1980: that trailer uses a strange turn of phrase...
"Everything existent will become annihilated"? Is that the one you meant? Seems like a bad translation, but I didn't hear anything else in the trailer that was off.
