A hero doesn’t have to be larger than life!

Ceville, a chronicle of malicious mischief and cunning deceit that is bound to win the hearts of all classic adventure game fans, is available right now on GOG.com for only $9.99.

It’s such a simple joyful life when you are a successful pint-sized despot ruling the land from the height of your majestic throne. That is, until some treacherous underpaid power-hungry bastard of a steward decides to rally an angry mob and overthrow you. That’s exactly what happened to Ceville, the king of Faeryanis. But Ceville isn’t the kind of man who turns the other cheek. Oh, no--he’s the kind of man who fights to regain power by any means necessary--including torture, mayhem, and throwing rotten vegetables at people.

In Ceville you control a party of three characters, solving puzzles in a colorful 3D realm of twisted fairy-tales. The game sports a point-and-click interface that perfectly recreates the feeling of classics, such as Monkey Island and Broken Sword. The characters are always ready to offer a witty comment or spiteful remark, and the unwilling alliance between the deposed king and his hapless helpers makes the Ceville an adventure game that you're sure to remember. Expect misbehaviour, mistrust, and mischief at every possible opportunity!

Praised by IGN and PCGaming for its classic adventure game spirit, modern presentation, and twisted humor, Ceville is a must-have for fans of the genre--or just fans of great fun--and it's available now for only $9.99.
Uuh...Ceville... got it from a friend who said it was "really enjoyable and funny".
Problem is, it wasn't. There were a few nice things, but not many.
Ceville, the main character, was something we call in germany a "Giftzwerg" (= a nasty person) and the game soon dropped a lot of jokes for some weird references.
Like the character H. Lo (which was only thrown in for a poor halo-joke and not as a nod to J. Lo), made fun of "Edna bricht aus" and the swiss candy "Ricola". ("Wer hat's erfunden?")
The english translation may be different. But still.

Some referneces were so obscure, I didn't even understand them and went straight over my head.
I'm afraid I needed to play some older Point 'n Clicks to fully appreciate the game.

Never bothered to finish it after Gwendolyn was captured.

Feel free to disagree. ^^"
(I probably get shot for that.)
Ceville is an okay game. Not a great one, but okay. Some good jokes and decent puzzles, but the humour was a tad too hit and miss for me.
I see you guys don't like ( understand ) the german humor . :p

I'm german, so I'll take offense on that. :P
;)
For those with really weak systems, be aware that the game requires a bit more horespower than you'd expect from the screenshots. I have a 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo system with a 4500mhd GPU, and Ceville is virtually unplayable.

Mine neither. Didn't you notice the last smiley? ;)
The game's not bad at all. The tone and difficulty are aimed more at a younger audience. But it's still an enjoyable game for adults too. One of the problems I had with it was the regional pricing practised elsewhere. Good old GOG solved that problem for those who don't already have it.

I did . :)

htown1980: That's nice for you but a lot of people here are too smart to buy things from steam... :)

Elenarie: So those who buy through Steam are idiots?
False dichotomy. Smart and idiot are not the only two intellectual options.
Looks fun, wishlisted for now
I enjoyed the game, but yeah the humor can be a bit weird and subpart at times. I used a walkthrough for most of the game, not because it was terribly hard, but because of annoying pixel hunts, illogical puzzles, and a general lack of desire or fun in poking around while stuck. Something like monkey island, even when you are stuck, is still an enjoyable place to hit your head against the wall. Not here unfortunately. But I did like how the story progressed toward the end.
Ah yes, Realmforge Studios... the guys who don't know the difference between an homage and a rip-off. I don't know how original Ceville is but I can say for sure that M.U.D. TV and Dungeons are just among the most shameless "ideas" in video game history, somewhere next to Limbo of the Lost and Skunny Racer.

I see him, and I instantly think "Wario, but with better digs!"
