Some games are made to make you smile, fall in love, and get lost in a magically created world, and few games can delight you like Botanicula.

Botanicula, a charming adventure/puzzle point-and-click, is available for only $9.99.

Little feather-fly, glowing nut/bulb, mushroom, fungus, and branch-guy--here’s the party of five little tree-friends that need your help to save their home-tree from evil black spidery monsters. On your way you will find dozens of tree-creatures: reimaginations of frogs, flies, bees, and beetles, all beautifully (and bizarrely) hand-drawn and animated. The whole environment is alive with chirping, buzzing and music. Actually, the whole environment is music--all your actions will be accompanied by symphony of chirps, tweets, growls, hums and gulps, all created by the band DVA, that won the game Excellence in Audio award at IGF.

Amanita Design, authors of Samorost and Machinarium, have created an adventure subgenre og their own: one where the exploration is as rewarding, touching, and delightful as the actual puzzle-solving. The simplicity of controls (click something when your cursor turns into a hand) combined with gameplay that encourages exploration (click everything that turns your cursor into a hand!) and brilliant ideas offer an amazing experience beyond regular point-and-clicks. You will want to find all the easter eggs before solving every puzzle and when you do, you will want to share this game with all of your non-gaming friends as an example of something that will delight and astound anyone.

Kirk Hamilton from Kotaku summed up Botanicula with a number of “100% true” facts. We found his summation so accurate we thought we’d include a few of them here:
* Botanicula is so adorable that it can only be controlled by picking up a puppy and moving its puppy paws on your computer's trackpad.
* Botanicula is so charming that it stole Julia Roberts away from Pretty Woman-era Richard Gere. He was pretty pissed but reported that he "couldn't stay mad at [Botanicula]".
* Botanicula is so clever that it snuck up behind the raptor that snuck up on Muldoon in Jurassic Park. "Clever game," said the raptor.

Botanicula is probably the closest thing to that dream you once had you never wanted to forget because it was so creative and fun. If you forgot that dream, get it back for only $9.99 now on GOG.com.
Let's forget about pre-orders for a second and look at this from someone who hasn't gotten it yet. You could get it on gog for $10 with only a demo soundtrack or you could get it in the HiB for whatever you want (but for the sake of argument let's say a minimum of $5)

Why would anyone buy it from gog after seeing how cheap and how many extras you get in the bundle? I know the bundle is only up for 2 weeks and that's a long time of losing out hand over fist.

it's nice that people who pre-ordered got a little something extra but for new customers gog just loses outright.

With this HiB they screwed up with that. Amanita backstab themselfs and future sells both on GOG & GamersGate. I'm curious what will Amanita do with their marketing manager :D

I have to agree. I don't need GOG to offer exclusive stuff and I don't need them to make the cheapest offer either, but I hate it when GOG is denied extras that are sold (or given away) elsewhere or when other shops offer you more and for less. But what I currently find the most annoying is that there is no Botanicula deal for anyone who wants the full package. You either get the soundtrack or the artwork, unless you buy the game twice, from different shops. I'd have payed more than $10 on GOG for a package that is complete, like a Collector's Edition, and if there's something I blame Amanita for, it's witholding the soundtrack from regular GOG customers (only to give it away with the HIB).

My thoughts exactly.
Is the full soundtrack going to be bundled with this game in the future? I am in no hurry to buy and I don't mind paying more for the GOG version. I wasn't planning on buying it until I was about to play it. But if the bundle is the only way I am going to gain access to the full sountrack then I will probably get that instead . . .

@Leroux Yup, it is really aggravating. my opinion of this developer has gone down. I don't mind the money so much, I just want a complete package. It's putting me off buying the thing altogether (well, putting it off until a later date where I may just forget about it).

Who cares? If the dev company doesn't care about GOG.com sales offering only demo sountrack for it, it's their bad.

IT was their decision to put it on a HB, they should be ready for consequences like : a very limited number of sales after HB is over.

They clearly don't know how to handle business.

gameon: Ok i get it. If you read the whole thread, you'll see i have been completely character destroyed over all of this. I'm wrong, you guys are right. So can people leave me alone on this, and stop downrepping me. Its just rubbing it in now.
I'm not beating you up and I sorry if you felt that way. I just figured I'd offer my two cents since I was one of the people who had already purchased the title in question. Never be ashamed to offer up your opinion. That, after all, is what discussion is about.

gameon: I changed my mind, GOG is awesome, everything they do IS AWESOME.
No it isn't.

Don't give in. I know this forum is eventually going to be completely overrun by morally corrupt bootlickers, but why help it? Just ignore your rep. It will grow back. As long as you stay civil, your voice can and should be heard, and as long as your criticism is constructive, it can never hurt but only help. Screw the numbers.

(Also, if you keep talking about your rep, you're only going to make it worse. I've seen it happen quite a few times already. Letting go is by far the best course of action.)
I pre=ordered botanicula because i enjoyed machinarium ( I gave 20 euro when in came out to buy the retail collectors edition)in order to contribute to amanita. But this pre-order thing is complete fail, since they put it in the indie bundle ... it is insulting !

kalirion: Well I bought the HIB for $0.99, split $0.15 to HIB Tip, and $0.84 to the charity (forget its name, something about forests or trees.)
I don't understand why people give to charities in these bundles. I give hundreds of dollars to charities every year and I don't need a computer game bundle for doing it. For me the only reason to buy a bundle (beside playing the games) to support the developer. I can give my whole income to charities any time if I want.
Has there been any word on new preorder bonuses since yesterday?

You can also give your whole income to a developer any time you want. All it takes is a check.

You may also buy a game directly from developer to suppor them, you don't need bundles to do that. You even support them more by buying every game separately for full price.

But don't send checks to Czechs. Trying to cash in a check in this country is a nightmare. So in this particular case, I'm pretty sure the developer would not appreciate it at all.
By the way, the main music theme from Botanicula is freaking awesome.

Ohh yeah, you are totally right.
