There’s no time to defend--ATTACK!

Blitzkrieg Anthology, complete with three add-ons, authentic World War II units, and dozens of historical battles, is available now on GOG.com for $9.99.

Blitzkrieg is a real-time battle game taking place during historical events of World War II. You become the commanding officer of a small group of troops in a single battle, or a campaign located all around the world: France, Russia, Northern Africa, and the Far East. Not only will you command your soldiers, trucks, and tanks, but also set up mobile bridges, lay mines, repair units, dig trenches, or if you’re in real trouble, call for air support. It is a real treat for tactical combat maniacs, as you don’t need to bother with supplies or diplomacy to crush your enemies--just use artillery, air support, well-timed maneuvers, 3D terrain, building layouts, weather conditions, and, most importantly, your tactical acumen to your advantage.

Blitzkrieg Anthology features hundreds of historically-correct World War II units, weapons, and vehicles, along with detailed descriptions. It allows you to play as the Allies, Germans, or Soviets during three huge campaigns. Blitzkrieg: Rolling Thunder follows the footsteps of the American tank legend general George S. Patton, Burning Horizon traces the war path of Erwin Rommel--the “Desert Fox”, and Iron Division contains six new missions and 2 campaigns. That’s enough addictive warfare to keep all you grognards occupied until World War III (or World War Z ;)

Get Blitzkrieg Anthology DRM-free on GOG.com for $9.99 and remember: Angriff ist die einzige Verteidigung!
I've discovered something I LOVE about this game that many modern RTS games fail upon.

Freedom!!!!!

That is they give me my objectives; the map; my units and then I'm free to fight. None of the overbearing style which walks you through a missing bit by tiny bit so that you have your hand held the whole time; and no silly time limits either.

Granted some missions (esp early tutorial ones) do have some of a guide, but still you've a lot of options and freedom to choose how to approach a mission.

and yet for all that freedom the fact that tanks can die to a single shot; the fact that artillery can be sniped out by enemy artillery positions means its not all a power walk for you.
I'm really interested in buying this anthology, but have been wondering whether Blitzkrieg still has an active multiplayer community? Is anyone still playing this game online?

I believe there's still a server hosted by Gamespy. But don't worry, the AI is more than competent :)

Oh, but I am worried :) I've played against the AI and it's really no challenge. There are missions where I defeat it with basically a sniper, couple of long-range artillery units and two or three tanks... It rarely responds with an organized counter-attack, it just sits while you gradually and carefully decimate it.

In fact, the only reason I'm thinking of buying this game is the multiplayer action so I'm very interested whether there is any...

I tried google, didn't find anything so I decided to register and post here. Hopefully, there are people playing on those servers. Thx for the swift reply...
