A little soul with quite a story to tell.

A Bird Story, a dialog-less heart-touching adventure-short coming from the maker of To The Moon, and set in the same game universe, is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, on GOG.com, for only $4.99.

A Bird Story is a simple, surreal short about a boy and a bird with a broken wing. Despite being narrative-driven like most of Kan Gao's games, the story is told without dialogues. It's a mix between adventure game elements and classic RPG aesthetics with an original soundtrack tailored to the story-driven narrative taking place in To The Moon universe. While Dr. Watts and Dr. Rosalene aren’t in this game (chronologically, it takes place before their time), the boy in it eventually grows up to become their patient in “episode 2″ of the series. Still, you can enjoy the experience with no prior knowledge of the series whatsoever.

Anyone with an open mind, a kind heart, and an hour to spare is highly advised to get A Bird Story, for only $4.99 on GOG.com!A Bird Story, a dialog-less heart-touching adventure-short coming from the maker of To The Moon, and set in the same game universe, is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, on GOG.com, for only $4.99.

Heh, the link to the forum in the news post still says "Be the first to comment'. And the news text is in English even if you set your language to French. Guess there are still some bugs to work out with the French launch. :)

Yes, it's my biggest GOG disappointment. Felt like it tried too hard.

That being said... I kinda think this one would be more up my alley since the biggest issue I had with To The Moon is the juvenile dialog.
Aw, a cute little game from the creator of "To the Moon" that is reasonably priced and Linux-compatible from the get go?

How can I resist?
Here's a fresh interview from the dev about the game:

Meh! My potato isn't compatible! It lacks OpenGL ES 2.0 support :(.
It can only handle 1.4. Dammit! Can anyone recommend a potato upgrade?

Alternatively I would have a Raspberry or a Banana xD. How about that?
I liked To The Moon and The Mirror Lied so I'll have to pick this one up at some point.

Any ideas as to why we don't have the Linux or Mac versions of To The Moon yet?
Good release.
Sounds lovely! I'll have to get this, and then play both games together one evening.

ThePunishedSnake: 5$ for this is just too much. I mean, no dialogues, one hour long...no thanks. I loved To the Moon, but I'll wait for a massive price drop for this.
That was my first reaction... But then I thought, Christmas is coming, will not give Kan Gao a little more reward for To the Moon? Also, it is selling for $4.24.
30 Flights of Loving was 20 minutes long, and totally worth the $5.

But I will say that this one is hardly as stylish. Hopefully it is as lovingly crafted though.

I will take it for sure too, but late, with a price I like more :)
Linux version from day 1 and a discount for owners of To the Moon - something that I can't pass.

BadDecissions: "To the Moon" is on my short list of most overrated indie games. Maudlin and inept, desperately trying to pull my emotional strings, moving from one "serious topic" to another without ever saying anything worthwhile about any of them.
I'm curious, what did you not like about it?

Because while I did like it, I will admit that it's pretty flawed. Most of the flaws come from it switching tone too frequently, and fragmenting the story into small chunks which made it less impacting than it should've been.

Well, it's been a while, so it's more of an impression that a reasoned position, but let's see how much I can remember. As you say, it switched tone frequently. It couldn't decide what story it wanted to tell, so it cartwheels from serious theme to serious theme, the autism(?), the dead brother, the forgotten first meeting, all of it related but none of it committed to or addressed very meaningfully, with an ending that decided to tack a completely different theme (the conflict between the scientists and the completion of their job) that didn't tie in well with the rest of the game. There was also some really stilted writing; for example, it was always "that illness" or some other euphemism, which ended up sounding very unnatural/
