Hi,

I've bought quite a few GoG games over the past few months and always backed up their folder to my usb extenal HD as my bandwidth is so limited I knew should I need to reinstall them all, it would take me 3 months to download them.

Anyway the other day I finally upgraded my Win 7 32bit to Win 7 64bit (so I can finally use all my ram)

Today I came to copy back my GoG games from my backup external drive to my desktop main HD and when I copied the files the games don't work!!

Please help!, I don't have the bandwidth to simply download them all again :(

Example: The Witcher EE, double click on the exe/icon and nothing happens :(

Maybe you need to uninstall and then reinstall the games? Did you also back-up the installers?

Few games will work if you only copy their installation folders, and for some of them (most if not all of the dosbox games for example) you will also need to backup at least their shortcuts. It's much better to backup the installers (along with the saves, if any), thus when you feel like reinstalling, not having to redownload everything.
As for the witcher, it might be possible to salvage it by getting the correct registry entries, but you'll need someone to supply them to you.
Did you also backup you witcher saves? Because they aren't found in the game's folder.
Thanks guys.

Seems I dropped the ball here and I have many weeks of downloading, still I can't blame anyone else but myself. No, I didn't back up the installers.

as for the Witcher saves, nope. They are no doubt gone too. damn :(

I have a shitty internet connection too, so i sympathize. Remember to back-up the installers this time :)
Backing up the installers is essential, yeah. Hard luck finding it out this way.

The GOG downloader makes this fairly easy. When I have a large download I set it to run overnight and let it go, it manages through connection interrupts fairly well.
