stonebro: I'm communicating a lot with customers in english. I don't really know whether I should end my emails with "Regards" or "Best regards". Is there any difference? Is "Best regards" too polite?
Sincerely,
stonebro

Sincerely works in either formal or informal emails and is the most common in the US, at least.
Personally, I use that line for the transfer information to my bank account in the Caymans.

That's been my understanding, although less so between people that I know well. But in any case where you're an acquaintance or less known than that it works.

heindall: i have a similar question. Can I short "you are welcome" for just "welcome" after someone say thanks ? Or will it change the meaning too much ?

Navagon: People should still understand what you mean given the context. But ideally "you're welcome" is about as much of a contraction as you can get away with.
Thanks ;)

Yeah, he was speaking of something for a work context, Sincerely is inappropriate for your childhood friend.
