Nroug7: Jesus, I didn't know everyone bought skyrim to role-play a hooker.
This time stock Skyrim females do took like dirty alcoholic hookers in their 50s. Anything to replace or at least wash them is glorious.
Get Nexus Mod Manager, download Cherrys mod and have fun. :-p

Nroug7: I remember Oblivion having shitloads of those mods on the nexus, I'll assume Skyrim is the same. What excuse do people use for it these days? Is it still along the lines of "It adds immersion and role-playability to the game.". Jesus, I didn't know everyone bought skyrim to role-play a hooker.
Well... Fallout had that possibility, at least TES games ain't far behind, right?
hell, I was just asking about Morrowind, which Fenixp has kindly offered to help me with, when I buy it - but reading this thread makes me wonder :

what is so wrong with the games, that they need so many mods ? (or is it just a case of users being able to add to the experience ?)

Nothing, it's just ... Look, original Morrowind trailer, yeah? (it properly starts at 40 seconds or so. By the way, yes, soundtrack is beautiful.)

Compilation of graphics enhancements.

And that is just modding graphics. There are mods that add base needs to the games. There are mods that add entire new regions with new questlines and stories, there are mods that add companions, mining and crafting, mods that change how the game works, there's tons upon tons of it. So there's nothing 'wrong' with the games, it's just they gave players tools to mod them and players found ways to enhance those games that creators themselves would never imagine.

Modders can add a lot of content (as Fenixp mentioned), but they can also change the base mechanics. Bethesda games often have (in my eyes) weird balancing, character progression (at least parts of it) and level scaling of enemies. I found that the big overhaul mods which inevitably pop up after a year or so greatly enhance my experience. They usually change a lot of the scaling/levelling mechanics and at the same time add lots of new stuff.
There are purists, of course, who want to play the game unmodded... but I don't really care, I just want to have the version of the game that suits me best ;-)

Thank you so much - the sound track is beautiful :)

The 2nd link you gave me looks amazing, I watched it in full and will prob watch it again. A fan in the making ? I think you can put that down as a certainty :)))

etna87 - for me balance in the game would be important, for me to enjoy the game. Amazing what a community can do, when they come together :)

Nroug7: I looked at the duel combat, but the video they used didn't really advertise it too well. While he sat there fighting one guy in intense head to head combat, another guy was shooting him in the back with arrows.
Kind of the point. Its not about making the player more powerful. Enemies block your blows and work together. You get flanked.

You have to wait for openings or use special moves to make one. You have to pay attention to your surroundings and fight from advantageous positions. You have to manage your stamina and build your character accordingly.

Its not for everyone, it makes combat hard at times. Running into a field of enemies when you're level 1 and equipped with a potato peeler and winning is the norm in Skyrim, with Duel its often suicide.
So I decided to Delete all my steam mods use the nexus mod manager - workshop was really irritating and I'm never recommending that too any hardcore modder.
