I haven't read about this thingie anywhere as I had no idea Wolfire was making another game, anyways you can check it out too. Receiver is an FPS without any HUD whatsoever.

I will check it out soon as I haven't even registered my Overgrowth copy, as it is needed to get Receiver for free. ¬¬
It was a game they made during a competition where they were tasked to make in the 7 day fps challenge. I wouldn't expect anything too deep. Here's an impressions article on it:

Seen videos on it on youtube. I love the mechanics done with the pistol. You have to load your own bullets, insert your magazine, clear the chamber manually, check your ammo count by actually pulling out the magazine and looking at it.
I've tried it, and it's a novel idea, but I personally didn't like that it was a tough-to-get-used-to idea over a game of roguelike-like intensity.
I'll bet it's hard as hell too, still, looks cool.
Looks like an interesting evolution of the FPS concept in a genre that desperately needs evolution. Will doubtless end up in a future HIB.

thanks, I missed the news about this. I isn't deep as a full game, but has deep mechanics and that's what's interesting about it and could be better explored.

That's highly probable, yes, so I wouldn't spend the $4.99 just right now. They could develop this into a full game and make a launch bundle, would be cool.
I've bought it recently and it's very cool as an experimentation on the fps genre. It's really hard (I died many times before suceeding at killing a single enemy) but the strong basis is there (I also like the clean design and cyberpunk-feeling, it reminds me of Frozen Synapse). It's still in beta and won't be updated for a while because Wolfire concentrates their effort on Overgrowth.

Warning if you consider buying it: the game can be unplayable on glossy screens because it can be very dark sometimes so be sure that you can play it on a matte screen to avoid reflections.
