Hey - Abe's Oddysee had similar counters...

Except that was a video game, and this is real life. Wouldnt it suck to be the spouse of one of the miners and see the dead count go up and be left wondering?

Edit Dunno if you were trying to be sarcastic or just pointing it out, I wasnt trying to attack you or anything.

Would it be better to have no info at all ?
Let's face it - it doesn't take Auschwitz for people to become numbers.

True, however, shouldn't the people who are affected by the situation not find out on the telly?

When someone dies here, before the info is made public the NOK's are notified. That way the media can't ambush them with the information.

Delixe: Sky programming like Sky News and Sky One is fully owned by Newscorp.

Navagon: Whoa, damn. I guess I'm best off sticking with Virgin Media then.
I'm afraid not: http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginmedia/virgin-channels-sale.php
It's like the dystopian capitalistic sensationalist future I've always dreamed of!
Oh bollocks. Lucky I don't watch much TV these days. It does make you wonder why it's only now that Murdock's rivals are getting worried though.
As far as I know, that is photoshopped...

It came from an image Dan Ryckert snapped and the way he phrased it made it sound serious.
"Way to handle the Chilean miner story delicately, Sky News"

Last time I checked, they didn't have a "Miners Died" counter. They definitely had a "Miners Saved" counter however, it was at 18 of 33 last time I checked.

To be fair to Sky, BBC News also has an "XX Miners Saved" counter, although it's a bit less prominent.

Yeah, that box would definitely be in a corner of the screen, not the middle if it were real...
Then again, Sky/Murdoch is just like FoxNews in America, just far less "Christianity" involved.

I'ma sticking with the BBC and CNN though. Not watched Sky since before the merger with BSB in the 90s.
>_< WOW! That made my day.
It's a shop. Sorry.

I'm not defending Sky, of course. I hate Murdoch as much as anyone else does.
