Now that GoG is bringing classics to Mac gamers, what odds we'll see the Quest for Glory series on Mac? Old favorites I would very much like to play again now that I'm a Mac user.

It depends on how the licensing works i.e. does GOG have to get a new license to sell the games on the MAC? if so then they have to wait on that now luckily getting 1-4 working is pretty easy since their supported in Dosbox/Boxer and ScummVM well 1-3 are if I recall. 5 is a windows based game so they will have to fiddle around with Wine. In short it may or may not come out and if it does/they can it will show up when it's ready.

Good luck to GOG getting the last QfG game working on a Mac, that ancient Win95 code barely works on modern version of Windows.

Same goes for that other Sierra windows game Betrayal at Antara, horribly unstable on modern windows os's.

Honestly when you think about it, it may be easier since you would have to use a emulation wrapper like Wine so you maybe able to support that normally finicky win95 code better then modern Windows especially since Microsoft is not known for their backwards compatibility

There is actually a native Mac version of Dragon Fire, but it was designed to run on Mac OS 7 and PowerPC. And as it so happens, Rosetta was removed entirely from Lion, thus also removing legacy PowerPC support, so short of using a Mac emulator like SheepShaver, there is no way to get it to run on modern Macs.

Best bet in that regard, ironically, is to use Wine like us Linux lot do. I suspect that Windows apps that have this problem on Mac will be bundled with Wine.

Wow, really? Because both Betrayal at Antara works almost flawlessly in both CrossOver and in Wineskin on my setup (CX11.2.2, 10.6.8, GMA 950 MacBook). I saw "almost" because the menu bar remains visible in full screen in BaA and I can't seem to figure out how to get it to go away.

QfG V kinda-sorta worked in CrossOver, but I got it work almost perfectly in full screen in Wineskin using the WS9Wine1.5.13AMDSpeedHack engine. IIRC, due to the annoying issue with WINE in 10.7+, I had to use a Virtual Desktop to play both games in Lion. I got QfG I-IV working in Boxer, but it's neat to know I could have used ScummVM too.

Anyone have an update? I'm guessing it's not likely, but I loved this series and would definitely play it again if it came out for Mac.
Yes, along the same lines as the person who posted before me - any update on this being available for MAC? Or, alternatively, any options for running in on a MAC anyway absent getting parallels installed?

If you saw my earlier post, you'll see that you can run it on your Mac using WINE.

You can play 1 to 3 (my personal favourites) using boxer.
