EDIT: or are you talking more about the visuals? 'Cause I admit that Quake III looks a lot "slicker" than UT. Still adore the Unreal engine, but I think it was better utilized in Unreal than in Unreal Tournament.
BTW: Flack cannon in UT99 was awesome, but the Flack Cannon in the original Unreal is WAAAAY cooler looking. Also, I think the Bio-rifle (aka the Guh-lobulator) deserves some love.
UT is a fast game, but after playing an hour or two of Quake, UT feels like a tank driving sim. An otherwise fast game feels sluggish in comparison.
It's maybe best experienced if you play both games head to head.
