I liked the first season quite a bit, although it did take me a couple of episodes to really get into it. A little sad crunchy roll doesn't have it anymore or the second season for that matter.

I could start listing some of the better anime with adult characters out there or with a serious story (White Album, Clannad, Air or Kannon are fine examples of what you can do in an anime with teenagers). Unfortunately, most of the good stuff stays under the radar or just does not connect with many of the westerners. I've seen my fair share of anime, including stuff that my friends told me that was plain silly, but, with all due respect to my friends, the stories in Lupin III or City Hunter are layered. They might seem a lot of fun and most of the times they are, but there were moments when i cried.
