So some dlc I got wont show up in a game. Haven't had an issue like this before so not sure what to do to get things working. Checked my updates. I've tried deleting game data & reinstalling, that didn't work. Outside of the game, trophy's have updated with the dlc atleast.
The game in question is Metro Last Light. Got the dlc with the sale. Perhaps this is just an issue with that game?
So I now think it might be a region lock. Read some threads describing that as an issue with other games. I got the dlc off psn, which is for my region. But the hard copy for the game Amazon sent me last year is european region for some reason. So the lock prevents them from working together. Might also explain why the original promo dlc in my new copy never worked, it was a european code. Thanks a lot regionalism.

Important lesson learned. Check the region marker of whatever Amazon passes off on you, as soon as it gets in.

Edit- Confirmed. I bought the downloadable version of the game since that was down to $10 on sale. Sure enough, everything works, the game, the dlc, all there.

yes the ps3 is region free any game will work on it

but dlc is not that is region bound

the dvd's and blu rays are also region locked and the ps1 and 2 games are also region locked

region lock is bullshit anyway
if i can and am willing to buy it then i should be able to buy it
While the DLC is region locked, that doesn't stop you from creating a PSN account for that specific region and obtaining the correct DLC from there since content can be shared between accounts on the same console.

it is a pain in the ass though
another reason why i loath dlc but lets not get me started on that >.>
Oh yeah, tell me about it. Infamous was one big disaster for me. I really wanted those blades which were originally pre-order exclusives. Then I read that they were eventually released as free DLC. And THEN I read that this was only the case for American users, Europeans could only get them by buying the whole digital version of the game. Then it turned out that my version of the base game is actually the American one, so I thought "hell's yeah, so I just need to install the DLC through an American account", which I did. But the DLC still didn't work for some reason. Okay, so I gave up.

BUT later I bought a used copy of Infamous 2 and there was actually an unredeemed promo code for the first game in the manual. So I bought the digital version off PSN very cheap and here it comes: the digital version I got was exclusively Polish and it didn't even work with my previous saved games. So yeah, I got screwed by regional non-sense two times in a row in case of this game. :P
