I'm thinking about opening an account with Direct2Drive because they seem to be the only existing source of a DRM-free version of Civilization III Complete. However, I remember seeing a number of posts here saying that D2D is terrible and/or that people have had problems using it. I couldn't really tell what it was that was bothering people, though. If you have used Direct2Drive, can you tell me if there is anything I should know about before signing up?

You are ok in the US. Basically GameFly have turned D2D into another Impulse. World class support and deals if you live in the US. If you live outside the US then you will get no support and often they simply stop you from buying anything.

Last week I bought Dragon Age Origin Ultimate from them. Their downloader is as good as GOG. I installed the game and plays great. I'm happy with my D2D purchase. I will buy from them again when they have another good sale.
Okay, thank you for your replies. Generally I don't like to support regional restrictions, but I think in this case I'll make an exception and buy the game from D2D.
