Preorder this charming point & click exploration game on GOG.com, save 10%, and get access to a cornucopia of awesome goodies for just $8.99!

Rarely you find a group of people with imagination and drive to surprise and amaze gamers quite like Jaromír Plachý and Amanita Design. These guys are indie devs that grabbed attention of gamers worldwide with eerie flash point-and-click Samorost, followed by Samorost 2 which won Best Web Browser Game in 2007, and their follow-up, the multiple award-winning Machinarium, their first full-length adventure and recent release on GOG.com.

Botanicula is point-and-click exploration game about five little friends: Mr. Twig, Mr. Lantern, Mr. Poppy Head, Mrs. Mushroom, and Mr. Feather. They all set out for a journey to save last seed from their home tree, which is infested by nasty parasites. The non-traditional storyline encourages you to explore, experience the new sights, meet strange tree creatures and listen to the music, rather than simply powering through the game and finding a solution. The original soundtrack and sound effects are created by Czech alternative band DVA and already won the game the Excellence in Audio award at IGF a few weeks ago. To add to the perfect game image, stylized graphics of Botanicula are mesmerizing and radiant, as you can easily see in the video.

Botanicula is a game of great atmosphere, funny animations, delightful music and playfulness. You can enjoy it for only $8.99 (that’s 10% off the original price!) in preorder, which ends on 19 April at 10.59 GMT.

mgol: Seems interesting and as I love Machinarium, I'll probably buy this one. But... not here. I want Linux & Mac OS X versions, too, sorry...
avatar
dirtyharry50: Same here. I hope GOG will eventually branch out to sell to Mac and Linux users in the future. Hopefully, it would be a profitable venture for them. I know I'd certainly welcome that news.
Same again. Yes, it is a side of GOG that i don't like. GOG should really add Linux version and Mac version too.

keeveek: Wait another 30 minutes and you will find out :P
Ok, I will do ;-)

Regards/pozdrawiam.
Oh... It appears it's Ultima 8 released today...

But I think Botanicula will be released also, don't worry.
What the hell, GOG? Botanicula is already avaible on Gamersgate.

Chill out, it's not even available on the official developer site yet!
Ok, Gamersgate changed it to pre-order too. Maybe the game premiere will be delayed...
just got scene released
I don't want to be buzzkill here but so far based on the screenshots and trailer I've seen: This game doesn't look that great at all

Anyone else share the same opinion?

gameon: It looks alright, although kind of rips off Loco Roco.
I don't think so

Locoroco games were platforming/action games (both of which were amazing btw)

This is just a point and click adventure game

gameon: I meant the graphical style of it looked similar to me.

Its a point and click!? I would never have known from watching the trailer. I know nothing about it.
I wouldn't really say that

Locoroco had a very flat, saturated and nice colour look to it, everything was distinctive, simple and easily recognisable

This however...looks sort of like they are going for the "Airbrush" and "Spray" look to it

And yeah, it's a point and click game :)
The game will apparently be available in 50~ mins (aka. Steam o' clock).

gameon: Well from a fairly "mainstream" gamer like myself, i get the same kind of feel from loco roco, as i do with botanicula. It looks like that kind of "cute" and quirky game.

I guess the main difference in my eyes is that Botanicula is indie, loco roco was not.
well, both of them are "cute and quirky" you are right about that

and yeah, Locoroco was developed by SCE Japan studio, man, all of this talk...

Time for me to get out my PSP and give Locoroco 2 a spin, love that game so much :)

gameon: I only played the 1st one, but i liked it. It certainly was worth having, because the psp was crying out for games when i had one years ago.
The sequel is 10 Times better than the first game, and has a surprising amount of content and depth, for a game that's considered "For kids"

I reccomend it to everyone
Laaaads,
Ready to download ;-)

Locoroco is quirky in a Japanese way, and Botanicula has that special Central European (and by that I mean special Czech) vibe to it. I've just returned from a visit to Prague, and when you look at the folk motives and some paintings selling on the streets, you'll get where Botanicula (and Machinarium and Samorost for a matter of fact) got its visual inspiration.
