As some of you may be aware, LEGO recently started a project called Cuusoo where users can submit ideas for new LEGO products and fans can vote on which ones they'd like to see made into real sets. If an idea gets 10000 votes or more, it gets sent up to the LEGO powers that be for serious consideration. This is how the LEGO Minecraft set came into being. Well there is a new video game crossover project up on the site and it looks pretty good: LEGO Portal! The proposal includes Chell minifigs, testing chamber playsets, GLaDOS playset, Wheatley and of course, Companion Cubes. Check it out and vote if you're interested:

Strijkbout: Nice.

Really cool, bit somehow, I don't think either of those would fit the LEGO age market, like the turned down LEGO Shaun of the Dead set:

Which was an excellent idea with a horrible, horrible execution :-(

How so?

Judging by the picture on the web site, the blocks look kind of small and they don't look compatible with regular lego blocks.

Well, to me it looks like a poorly made Steve and creeper, thrown into a box full of completely standard green and brown Lego blocks. I was hoping for blocks that actually looked like Minecraft blocks, rather than "well, Minecraft is made of blocks, so we'll just put some blocks in a box and make lots of big bucks".

They are fully compatible with regular LEGOs, but it is mostly made up of standard 1X1 stud pieces, each representing a single Minecraft block.

I can see that. I think the idea is that they were going for a 1:1 translation of Minecraft to LEGO blocks. Kind of a minimalist Minecraft, similar to the LEGO Architecture series.
I want that and Lego Mechwarrior.
Blocks based on a game based on blocks that were inspired by the blocks the game is based on.

my head is gonna explode.
