Does anyone owns a box version on PC?
This question / problem has been solved by korellimage
Yes.

At the time of purchase, it was a lot cheaper than buying it through Steam.

Mine was part of the PS3 promo thing..

if that counts..
Yes. But it's still Steamworks. I only got it on retail disc as I didn't want to spend ages downloading it via Steam. Oh, and I got it for £5 cheaper than the Steam price at the time.

I got a retail copy of Portal 2 on hand.
I partly regret it, with Steam-preorders getting more, like the pre-loading and several-hour-early release, but I had too many giftcards that I had to rid of anyways.

I'm an idiot...
I have the retail version as well.
I do, I bought an open copy at a local flea market for $1.

The key worked, wahoo.

Curiously enough, that's exactly what it tried to do in my case. I had to find a bug report with a workaround to get it to install the game from the disc. And even then, it only installed most of it. A sizeable portion of the game still had to be downloaded from Steam before the installation was complete.
Sorted, thank you korell!

Yeah, that is a Steam bug that sometimes happens. Some users had the same thing happen with Duke Nukem Forever too, and I experienced it with TF2 from my Orange Box collection. I think if you cancel the download, clear any downloaded files then re-start the disc installer it will then install from disc.

I think when I installed it I had something like a few hundred MB to download to complete the installation, but then that's to be expected with Valve's games.

No worries. Glad I could help.

For anyone reading, nagytow was after a scan of the quick reference card that came with the boxed version (minus the product key of course).

Would have helped if he'd said what he actually needed ;-)
