The biggest problem I have with the game is, that it's boring. Moving around the massive, empty halls isn't my idea of great gaming. Also the combat is some what clunky. Over all a disappointing, yet late, sequal to a much grander game.

HEY! i LIKE long drawn out gameplay! :P >:-( :P

Clunky fighting though, not so much....still the former part is utter anathema and blasphemy good sir! Take it back lest I slap thee with mine gloved hand. :D
Got this game on Ebay for 99 cents, wasn't worth the price....
This is actually one of the RPGs I don't want in GOG. The cover art was way cooler than the game itself, to be honest. It was boring, endless fight, huge dungeons filled with nothing... Yeah, not a good rpg.
I remember being in the store with my dad, a couple years after the game was released, and there was a copy of the game, brand new, collector's edition. And I was always intrigued by it. My dad told me it would delete to OS, I'd heard nothing but bad revies of it, and yet, something about that collector's edition. I would pick up the box and look at it every single time. Never bought it, probably wouldn't if it wasn't the collector's edition, but obviously something about it stuck in my mind. For all the bad things about it, they had an awesome collector's edition.

Nuh'ah, I ain't taking anything back. Boring gameplay sucks.

But yeah, PoR:RoMD has several gameplay issues. The dungeons are ridiculously big, but the same time they are very empty and navigating them is just plain boring. I wouldn't mind, if the game would be at least nice to look at, but the over all appearance of the dungeons is monotoniusly brown. And the soundtrack isn't making the experience any better.

I'm not claiming PoR:RoMD to be the worst game out there, I'm sure some one has enjoyed it, they just are in the minority.
I've played PoR2 without mods. The first part is annoyingly slow, but after some levels you gain options to speed up combat and when you get out of the first dungeon the game gets less monotonous and more interesting.
If you want to play the game definitely start with 1-2 pure class clerics so you can turn the undead and have to endure their slow walking animations less often.

The game is somehow like Wizardry7, both offer relatively little content artificially lengthened, but while W7 starts good and gets worse, PoR2 starts bad and become better.

Wiz 7 gets worse? I kinda lost interest early on, but I was assuming it got better...

Wizardry 6 was amazing and I really wanted to take the same party through the trilogy, but 7 just doesn't hold my interest very well.

Wiz is a good series and all and i'ma gonna let you finish, but ULTIMA was the best RPG series of the two...of all time, OF ALL TIME! YEAH~
