I started a new job recently, which involves 4 hours a day travelling to London and back on the train. I've been using this time mostly to play Minecraft and listen to podcasts, which is something I've never really done before.

I'm currently listening to Boing Boing's Gweek podcast, the Engadget Show, and the Joystiq show.

Are there any other good podcasts you'd recommend? I'll listen to anything, but tend to verge towards the geekier topics like video games, comic books, science and tech; that sort of thing. Preferably audio only; vidcasts will distract from the Minecrafting.

We're Alive

I really can't recommend this one enough! It's an audio drama with voice acting, sound effects, and a fantastic story. It's more about the humans learning to survive and cope than zombies but there are plenty of tense moments.

If you join the forums and start listening, tell them VeritibleHero sent you. :)

Edit: Can't spell "there" ...

Thanks for the suggestions, these have all been added to the feed.

The zombie podcast seems especially interesting. I haven't listened to a good audio play since the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Radio play.

On a side note, what software do you guys use for listening to these? I'm currently using beyondPod on android. It does the job well, but adding/finding feeds seems pretty clunky.
Gamers With Jobs is also well worth it.

bump for more suggestions
can't listen to engaget to hear all these new devices being released each moment is depressing
Free Talk Live is great.
If you like the game of Civilization, you might enjoy one of the PolyCast podcasts. PolyCast is the orginal. It features regular hosts plus a couple quest hosts from the Civ community. I've been a long time listener and been on the show twice (episode 96 and 97). They've been running since 2006 and are on their 130th episode. They've also done spinoffs for the game Civilization Revolution Revcast. One for modding ModCast. And a new one called TurnCastwhere they play a multi-player cooperative game of Civ.

All of PolyCast's podcasts are audio only.

I've found a few since posting this originally that I now listen to regularly. Below are the ones that aren't already recommended:

Giantcast
PC Gamer Podcast
Philosophy Bites

My favourite of the lot though (and found from a suggestion here) is Gamers With Jobs. Some very interesting games reviews and topics, and they cover board gaming too. If you listen to only one games based podcast, make sure it's Gamers With Jobs.
