This is a warning for Roman5 and people who create topics like this one - we've recently introduced automated anti-spam functionality, based on user reports.
Creating a thread whose opening post gets marked as spam will cause the topic to be deleted.
Also, if this results in the user becoming marked as a spammer, based on a few more factors, our system will permanently delete all of that user's posts.
So please be careful what you write and what topic you create in future.
the reason I created this topic is because the spam on these forums is sadly becoming something sort of like a joke but it seems some people took my opening post the wrong way
I just hope the community will not have to deal with this spam again, and even if yes - for an extremely short time

Uhm... yes, I think you're trusting your community a tad much. Any group of people could mark a legitimate poster's posts as spam and that would be worse than the rep debacle. The community can help sort out the real posters from the spammers but in the end, a staffer should have the final say regarding the deletion of all of their posts.
Still, it's good to see effort being put in place regarding the spam. Keep it up, GOG.
edit: Ok, I just read the blue post again and I guess "based on a few more factors" are the "safeties" put in place to avoid this sort of thing from happening.

Then again, I can see this happening with a non-spam, controversial subject, where a majority simply decides the thread is just plain annoying and manage to get it deleted if the votes are numerous enough.
Power to the people?

As has already been stated, If an opening thread is marked as "spam" and is deleted with the poster being marked as a "spammer" (god I hate these terms) It would be open to abuse, it may also mean that a misunderstanding leads to genuine posts in other threads being deleted (more info needed to be certain). I belive that we need more information on this new "anti-spam" system your all putting in place.
Also if people are determined to create these topics there is nothing at all stopping them from creating alternate accounts for use just on the forum for the sole purpose of pissing people off (or at least trying to).
Anyway thats my rant...... For now MWAHAHAHAHA

It was simply a joke, no need to go banning people about it.

What? The process is initiated by other forum users who mark the first post as spam. If someone is wrongly banned, blame the 'classy community' who mark him/her first as spammer.

Let me clear up some confusion ;)
- since Holidays, only registered users are allowed to post on the forums
- nofollow should be added soon to posts by low-rep / new users (if it's not there yet)
- the anti-spam bot mentioned in earlier posts temporary deletes a post in very rare cases, ONLY and only if multiple checks were matched (which we can't disclose as we don't want to help spammers out there). As you can see Roman5 post didn't disappear even though it received a lot of spam votes. However, we were notified about it in minutes after it was posted. Also, unless you will purposely "dress" your post as a real looking spam, the post doesn't stand a chance of being deleted, even with the help of thousand-people-strong bury brigade.
- still, since it was obvious for us that there are people out there who will try to abuse the system and break the forum by spam-voting non-spam posts, we log every single spam vote. If we'll notice repeated cases of people trying to bury posts that aren't spam, we will review such cases in detail and in result we might ban people trying to abuse conversations on the forum.
Long story short, please use the "mark as spam" option carefully and responsibly :)
