most people I know (including me) play female characters, as "it's much better to look at female butt than at male's"

but than again, I kind of like the idea of my female character seducing another female in the game ;) (VtMB!)
I must thank you....I"ll go play vtm:b later this week, now that I know.

Coelocanth: I almost always play female characters when there's a choice.
+1

timppu: RPGs, I tend to pick male characters just in case the gender does affect something, like the ability to fight. At least it should. For a cleric I can always choose a woman.
See, I'm always tired of this kind of crap. When I had to create full parties, (The old Exile games come to mind,) all of my heavy-hitters were female and my squishy magic users were male.

Lionel212008: Experience everything, you say?...Like having sex with a man in fallout?....you god damn queer:P

Rohan15: When I play certain MMO's like Vindictus or Atlantica Online (Which is a great MMO by the way), I usually have no choice in the matter. In games like Oblivion and Fallout, I choose to play as either sex that way I can experience everything and then some.

Well, not that in particular, but if I have to for an achievement or quest, then yes.

lol..i do have to agree with you on this..i've seen plenty of women around that can kick any dude's ass hands down.....

Hovis1974: Ok, let me start by saying this....

I'm a typical red-blooded 37 year old American male. I'm straight and married. dated women in high school, and dated women before i was married. My point is...i love women

HOWEVER....

When it comes to video games, I actually like to play female characters. When i play in MMO's or just regular games where you can customize your avatar, i pick female...

my character in Mass Effect is female, both my "good" and "evil" character in Fallout 3 and New Vegas are female and when I used to play World of Warcraft...you guess it, female. I used to get all kinds of flack from fellow players and even my wife has looked at me strangely ever so often..I don't really have a reason as to why i prefer females over males, it's just how I am? lol

So any instances where you guys prefer playing a different gender or am i the only perv here?

Dischord: IDK, I started playing Sacred from here last week, and I picked the female Seraphim.

If I have to look at something for so many hours, I damned sure want it to be a female :-)

Edit to add: If something like the Witcher though, am male only choice but would be anyhow; depends on game.
Heh, heh. First game that popped into my mind was Sacred 2 and seeing the Seraphim chick run around in a thong. Funny, my wife was in the living room when I was sick the other day and laying on the couch. What a funny conversation that was. She saw the character and was like, look at this! So not only do we have to run around in skimpy outfits but now we've got to kick ass in it too! What bad guy's going to be scared of this chick with her hair and make-up done running around in a thong, she said.

Classic wife comment on how they portray women in some games.

On topic though, in certain games I choose the female option, in other games I don't. I was very anti-female character use for a long time and then one day, probably when I got Sacred, I decided to play the female character. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to when I choose it or not though. I just played Titan Quest with a female character and my only reasoning was that the male character looked terrible and blocky, while the female character looked much better. I fired up Diablo 2 again and chose the Scorceress. I'm playing Dragon Age though and I've got a male character. I've got a male Commander Shepard. I gave Age of Conan and try and of course, I had to try the buxom topless female character.

Lionel212008 said: In JRPGs like ffvii you control a party so there's no escaping playing a female character. Some of those had jugs the size of mars. For some reason their massive frontal hemispheres don't seem to hinder their combat prowess to any degree......I suppose the laws of physics are alien to most jrpgs

@Lionel212008 ahaha, any women with massive front hermispheres would sure as hell never run into battle at least - she might risk either a back injury or knocking herself out.

+1 for Popinjay's magic ball
+1 for Lionel212008's closet lesbianism gamerisms
+1 for krakadyla's Murder, Shmurder.. LOL!
