eyeball226: I think you're missing my point when you suggest PSP owners... I was talking about the situation of getting your first PSP and realising you need a Memory Stick. I just meant that people are a hell of a lot more likely to already have an SD card than they are to have a Memory Stick.
Mostly because only Sony uses them...

Wraith: I thought the Vita was using internal storage and only using memory sticks with the game...that would make sense though, and sense is rarely thought of nowadays.
They cut the internal storage I think. The games and patches get saved right onto the game medium, and extra storage is available for music and videos, etc.
I placed my pre-order for now. I can always cancel it if new details arise that I don't agree with. I may as well stick with it, since I've been meaning to get a PSP, and this is compatible with the older games that are already on the PSN. Or rather, it says "via download only". Does that mean I can take a disc-based PSP game, install it to my PS3, THEN transfer it to my Vita? Or have disc-based PSP games never worked like that, even with the original PSPs (like, if one would want to install the game to ones own PSP internal memory/Memory Stick, thus saving the disc from undue wear and tear)?
I can honestly say that I have absolutely no hope for this system…. everybody is already hailing it as the 3DS killer, but I see things quite differently.

Wait a minute… 3DS killer…. Why does that sound so damn familiar? Oh… I remember….. The PSP was supposed to be the DS killer. That worked out great for you didn’t it Sony? Don’t get me wrong… I do quite a bit of my console gaming on the PS3 & hardly ever touch my Wii (so you can’t really consider me a Nintendo fanboy) but on the opposite side, I NEVER use my PSP & game on my DS (now my 3DS) quite a bit. There is a reason Nintendo is known as the king of handhelds… they won’t go down easy.

I can already predict that the Vita will have the exact same problem as the PSP. Lack of actual FUN games (yes... the current lineup up 3DS games sucks... I'll openly admit that, but look at the list of known games coming out for it... hell they even managed to get there hands on one of Sony's Big Muthafucka 3rd Party franchises.... Metal Gear Solid). I want you to honestly answer a question for me. Can you name 15 GOOD PSP games? Bet you can't... why? Because the system doesn't have 15 good games. The DS on the other hand has a shitload of good games & I would have trouble limiting myself to only 15 games. Yes the PSP is graphically superior to the DS, but good graphics =/= good gameplay. This could also be applied to the Vita & the 3DS... The Vita is technically superior in the graphical department (although one could argue that the 3DS's 3D element could make up for that), but I would much rather play an awesome game with shitty graphics (& the 3DS's graphics are far from shitty) than a shitty game with awesome graphics (I should note that it is purely speculation that the games will be shitty... but if the PSP's track record speaks for the Vita, then I would say that is a fair assumption).

The Vita will most likely appeal to the hardcore gamers (much like the PSP) who want to play PS3 level games on the go (including direct ports from what I understand). There is something to be said for that I suppose, but if I want to play PS3 games, I’ll just play my PS3… If I want to play fun unique games however, I think I'll stick with my 3DS

You misunderstand again. ;)
I was talking about the PSP, not the PSV. Re-read my posts with that in mind and you'll hopefully see what I was talking about.

How would you put a UMD in your PS3?

I thought you meant the PS Vita :P Anyways, I never thought about it much since I use Cybershot cameras, so I always had a memory stick or two lying around. I've actually never owned an SD card. The only other digital camera I had before it got stolen was a Sony DSLR which used a CF card.
Acknowledging that this is an old thread I couldn't think of a better place to ask this.

How is it that a game that worked on the Japanese PS Vita TV cannot work on a North American Playstation TV? I thought half the point in the vita was the lack of region based garbage so why on earth is it that I can't play games compatible in Japan on a system over here? I mean, look at that list:
