lukaszthegreat: I am after Forgotten Realms and PS books. To complement the games I am currently playing.
PST and later on BG2 and IWD.
What you want is the Avatar trilogy. I'm fairly sure they are intended to be a prequel to Baldur's Gate.

I read them many years ago, and its the reason I prefer FR to the other D&D stuff.

The Drizzt ones might also be worth a look, I think there are loads of those tho (I remember there being three trilogies or something?)

I recommend the Cleric Quintet series of books. Those were always my favorites, more so than the Drizzt series.

Not only is it a great series, but the main character of the Cleric Quintet is a minor/supporting character in some of the later Drizzt books, so that helps provide some background into that.

BG SPOILER...

He also makes an appearance in Candlekeep in BG1
