Titanium: Maybe it's even a good way to spread the word, who knows.

I got Unreal Tournament 2004 from a GOG torrent, playing with no DRM and shit is great. But now I know about this site, and I can respect that they don't want to put DRM just to stop piracy, because it hassles their customers. I think the creators knew their games would be pirated when they decided to not put DRM, and they thought it would be better to cater to their consumers than to try and get back their 'lost sales'. Anyways, I've reccommended the site to friends, and I've been meaning to get some games here too, so yes it is free advertising.
The only reason I haven't gotten any games is because if I were to spend money on a game, I'd rather get a full case and manual with it, I don't see the point of downloading games digitally; if I wasn't going to get a physical copy, then I might as well just pirate it.
Also, how'd you find these torrents, anyways? Just browsing TPB, not looking for anything illegal yourself, right?
And taking them off TPB won't do much, there are a lot more on private sites like Demonoid and BitGamer.

As if you get that with most games today... most of the time it seems to be a DVD case and a slip of paper. What you do get though is various online checks and the requirement of digging up the disc when you want to play.
Truth be told, I prefer discs as well, because I want to have something to show off on my shelves, a DVD cover printed from my printer isn't really the same (disregarding that it'd be in black-and-white). GOG is awesome though because I can take a slew of games with me on my laptop without filling the bag with discs and play even when I don't have a connection.
Funny, they changed the uploader to "anonymous" but kept the post where he explains how he has a crap connection with his user id.
And why would anyone with such a bad connection try and upload the whole package at once, rather than the individual games separately?

Funny that you decide to keep bumping a thread that contains links to torrents and information on how to find said torrents in the first post. And yes, I realize the irony of responding to you.
I actually found out about Good Old Games through a torrent site. Someone posted a game, got flamed for posting it and not supporting GoG. The comments from the other members showed a lot of respect for GoG, so I decided to check it out. Now I have purchased around 30 games.

You gotta remember these games are advertised as DRM-free and most games already passed there copyright. So, obviously it's gonna be pirated since anyone can install and ran by anyone, regardless of who the original purchaser was.

Copyright in the US is author's lifetime + 70 years or just 70 years for a company. No game ever made is out of copyright yet.

"They" didn't change anything, Optional anonymous uploading was added to TPB a while back to protect users from Movie/Music companies and their various attack dogs.

And keep an eye on these guys. I think we can keep the illegal copying of GOG limited.

Sadly the more popular this site becomes the more it's gonna get out there and pirated. Spreading some 'Don't do it!'s or 'There's a virus in here!' is not going to stop people pirating this stuff.
Gog isn't and shouldn't be appealing to these people anyway. Its market is the people who would have paid for this stuff anyway. Not the pirates.

Even if the games were only a buck, people will still pirate just because they are pirates.
At least it shows GoG.com on the installer, so the pirates know who they are stealing them ( and maybe they will check out the website).

And the minimum length of a copyright internationally is author's life+25 years according to the universal copyright convention, and under that, still no games have passed copyright.
