A good many of the games (particularly the DOS ones) have support for additional kinds of joysticks/controllers. And while I am sure that the config file is set up for most users, those of us who play a lot of joystick-based games may want to try and use DOSBox to emulate a particular model (Thrustmasters, Gravis Phoenix, etc). The problem being that hunting down images of these to figure out what most matches our sticks can be problematic, considering that at least a few of the companies didn't go out of business.
I figure, keeping a simple database of links to pictures/details of the more popular joysticks of the various eras might be a good idea. Does anyone else agree, or am I just a bit too obsessed with not having to manually configure controls in game?

or they could pick a single joystick platform and show you that.
i can see it now, only support for xbox 360 controllers.. a har har har har
Not a bad idea, I guess. Though I think I'd prefer to see some sort of tool that would just allow you to assign the different buttons and keys to your current joystick, and then it would automatically adjust the config files depending on what you specified.
Joy2Key should work well enough in most cases, I think.
Period controllers and joysticks... I think I need an adult on this CONVO, podvo
I didn't know controllers had periods. I always just thought it was a female thing.

Apparently females use Thrustmaster controllers too, when in dire need of a joystick.

Beaten to the punch!!

Period controllers? I think they're called tampons, not joysticks...

The twisted thing is that I got downrepped today but it wasn't for that post! XD I thought it was funny but I certainly wouldn't hold it against anyone for chewing me out for it. Too funny.
BTW very clever.

Wow. Gravis Phoenix. Now there was a guitar, er I mean, Joystick Controller if ever there was one. I have one out in the garage somewhere, been sitting there ever since the Microsoft Sidewinder displaced it. Of course, the Sidewinder is sitting beside it as well, having itself been displaced many years ago.

Sorry, I just got something in my eye there, OK, I'm back to normal now.
