I really enjoyed the PA games. They're very casual rpg's with tons of humour, albeit a tad on the shallow side gameplaywise. But for casual games, they're entertaining and very original.
On a side note, to comment on Telltale, I'm not really a big fan. I'm a huge Monkey Island fan from back in the day, but I could never wrap my head around Telltale's offerings in the series. I tried getting into the Screaming Narwhal, but it never felt right enough to keep me interested for long.
I'm also a huge Back to the Future fan, so I was understandably very excited about the release of the game. However, I came away from episode 1 with a weird taste in my mouth, It's just too dumbed down, and too short. Guess I'll give the next episodes a chance before passing final judgment. After all, I got all the episodes, which brings me to the next complaint.
WARNING, OFF-TOPIC RANT!
The website is horrendous. Trying to find satisfactory information is cumbersome at best. The release of BTTF was a surprise to me, I hadn't picked up on it until it was actually released, so I didn't understand the release model beforehand. Upon visiting Telltale's website, I found it strange that I couldn't purchase the episodes separately, it's only available as a complete package.
That being the case, I assumed all episodes were already released and available for download. I specifically looked for this information, and nowhere did the site mention that only the first episode was out. There being a synopsis of each episode on the page, and the lack of contradictory information led me to believe I was actually buying the full set for immediate download, rather than advance financing the development of subsequent episodes. Not until I had purchased the game did I discover that I would have to wait months to play through the entire game.
You could say that I should have searched elsewhere to find my answers beforehand, or ask in the forums, but this information should be right there on the product page explaining to me exactly what I was getting for my money. Very disappointing,
The reason I love GOG, is that the website is the complete opposite of Telltale's. I am never in doubt as to what I'm actually buying, what the system requirements are, and what extra material I'll receive with the game. The game management system is simple, pretty to look at, and most importantly, works flawlessly. Kudos to GOG, and no cigar for Telltale.
I will say I enjoyed season 1 of Sam and Max. Even if it was a few years ago, and I got it through Steam...
And to StingingVelvet, I am a big point and click fan (no flame intended, just saying:)
