To be honest, I'm not surprised by the outrage. At Steam or GoG, people love to complain about promotions. I probably won't buy anything, but there are still ways to get entered in the drawing without paying anything. And, at the very least, I'm giving the games that are on sale a look. I have absolutely no problem with Steam trying to promote lesser known games this way.
