JudasIscariot: Speaking of zombie games, Dead State is still not done, damnit! >:-(

KneeTheCap: Looking forward to that one, alongside PZ.

Why there still isn't a good, hardcore zombie apocalypse survival game...?
Minecraft?

Athenvance: I too have noticed an increase in zombie things. My prediction is that the zombie trend will die down soon and be replaced with an interest in steampunk. I have mixed feelings about this, as I like steampunk, but I'm afraid of how the general public will destroy it.
SteamPunk is one of those things that I'm shocked isn't more mainstream - honestly all it needs is one big film (sadly Steam Boy wasn't quite big enough it seems :() or something to really kick start things off. Steampunk RTS would be a dream come true (thus far all we have is Rise of Nations Legends).

As for zombies, as said above, zombies and aliens are two good "badguys" which pretty much any social group games are retailed to can get behind killing. Thus a developer has very little risk in isolating select markets they retail too.

WWII and the Nazis are also another popular "evil enemy" which can easily be preyed upon without much risk of isolating markets; although I'm unsure how they are received/restricted in the German market (I've a feeling that one of the reasons we don't see many WWI stories from the "German" side of things is the fact that Germany is very hot on downplaying and not glorifying/heroworshiping the nazi movement).

Anyway move out Zombies and enter STEAMPUNK!
Not nearly as over used a normal humans as the villain/bad guys/enemies.

I think it will make a grand entrance soon. It took a few years for some of the screenplay writers to learn about it, and then it takes however long to get a movie made from start to finish. The new Musketeers movie has a steampunk flair, but I think an epic steampunk film is still yet to come.

Now here would be a combination of old and new- a steampunk-themed zombie game/movie.
Thing is we did have a big steampunk film - WildWildWest - and and and it still avoided mainstream for the mostpart :(

But it sucked. Steampunk anime blows that out of the water, e.g. Castle in the Sky.
Nah, I don't think zombie's are overused. Everything is overused.

But know what's better? Zombie nazis:

I can highly recommend World War Z! Great read, and if you are in comic books, The Walking Dead are just brillant. And they deviate from the TV show enough to warrant a seperate reading.

On the topic: I'm currently playing Dead Island and I must say, this is probably the best Zombie survival game I have played thus far. First Person visceral close combat at its best. But it might not be everyones coup of the, I myself have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with it.
