Now, before I get any rain - I`m not some conspiracy-fish. Just kinda eclectic so I tend to swallow, mix and spit out the bones, in all aspects of our existence. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I happen to think that it`s interesting.

The documentary is about how the media influence peoples opinion.

And the same thing can be applied when a webshop wants you to but something, the listings are always sorted by "popularity". Group mentality at its best. It`s like «I don`t wanna think alone», or the other way around «I MUST buy something that everyone else buys».

Yep, that`s what we get for being a pack animal :P

Animal Farm is a good film, but the book is better.

Todays little fact (and actually not conspiracy, it is true, check it out.) - While the animation is one of the few feature length british animations, it was actually mostly financed by CIA (it is argued whether Halas and Batchelor were aware of this or not), to be used as anti-Soviet propaganda. This is why the ending and some portrayals in the book are different than those in the film :)

A little off topic but Texting = New Speak

The media can make or break freedom of choice. There has been political pressure for independant regulation and then self-regulation. It's imperative that they remain unbiased and uncensored, even if opinions based on analysis is uncomfortable to read. They should also be able to envoke the option to protect sources of sensitive information.

I do think there are some ethical reporters and internet/newspaper sources and these should be encorouged by all and not stifled.

It's up to people to objectively critically review what messages are being told to them. "Media" can only delude people who want to be deluded.

Everyone has an angle, a position, or an argument. It's up to the person being preached to, to figure out how they're being swayed and deal with it.

The movie adaptation of Orwell's 1984 is one of my favorite films of all time. John Hurt's performance in particular is amazing

People don't like admitting how much media controls their lives and opinions because people don't like thinking they're sheep, or stupid, or don't want others to think that about them. So everyone says they are above media influence even though none of us are.

There's people who didn't like the movie? Granted it isn't an elaborate as the novel (for obvious reasons), but it's a solid adaptation. Would of been a fuller adaptation if it had a three-hour runtime though.

I consider it to be the best that could possibly be done as far as turning the book into a movie and from what I gather from those more critical is that "best" isn't enough. I am not so harsh. Nothing will be as good as the book but I really can't believe you could make a better screen version of it than they did.

Problem do arise when the media does not say anything at all. If media reports about an event, we can find out more about it on our own and make up our own minds. If media does not inform us about an event, then it's hard to seek out information, as we don't know that there is information to be found.
This was a problem in Sweden recently, when they made some changes to the constitution. Media did not report about it, thus people were unaware of what was going on until after the constitution had been changed. There were a lot of theories about the media silence popping up afterwards, some more zany than others, but it did highlight a major issue with the current system.

Too bad this happens to every movie adaption. CIA you say? Well, even disney (among others) made cartoons of known fictional characters, and had propaganda against Japanese, socialism, communism, and the biggest during ww2: Nazism... Thanks. Borrowed the movie from a friend some time ago, but haven`t gotten around to see it yet.
