OnLIve seems like just a bad idea to me. We already have a gamers version of Netflix. It's called gamefly. Works almost exactly the same way. Only thing it doesn't have at this point is the streaming/DD aspect.

True gamefly is pretty much strictly console games, but I just looked at OnLIves list of games and didn't really notice a single game that I would call a PC game.

OnLive is like the streaming aspect of NetFlix, GameFly is like the postal aspect.
OnLive is a non-starter, the infrastructure won't support it in a meaningful way.

However, if we ever get infrastructure solved we will see this one day. On one hand it sucks, on the other think of it like Zune Pass, X dollars per month to access to whatever you feel like on a given day is a great deal for some people.

I don't see it replacing retail games, someone will be willing to release them because the market will always exist in some fashion. It may only be the anti-DRM publishers and indies, but someone will be doing it.
Yes i see it as an easier "on demand" GameFly i like the service as a test bed for games... i dont care if its fuzzy or if there is jitter i just want to try before i buy...

i would never "buy" a game though there service that's ludicrous and has no reward. Its like buying MMO money with real life Money, its stupid because there is nothing tangible in return.

I honestly support this in the rental aspect of the service, but buying games though it is to sketchy, i don't like or support the fact there is no form of tangible product akin to Steam games.

Gersen: You can always remove the DRM from Steam if needed, granted it's not legal in every countries but at least it's a possibility, that's a huge difference, with OnLive everything you "buy" is just thin air and there is nothing you can do about it. (And Steam have an offline mode at least )
There are only a few games that can run outside of steam with special exe's and loaders but they are very few.

And how fun are community games if there's no community? That's the problem with these walled gardens, organic communities don't really exist, which is a shame given how good some communities do turn out (e.g. UT2004).
It is my firm and unchangeable opinion that anything that diminishes the control that players have over their games should be destroyed with extreme prejudice.

I don't feel the need to add anything more than that. My feelings towars OnLive (and Steam, DRM, Consoles, etc.) should be easy to deduce.
