subtler: It is not all about age. It is more like falling love with history, when every thing about gameing is more pure more self respected. Todays games are more like commercials.only concern about sales only art they make is EFFECTS. you cant even see the character behind all those lights. but the real diffirence is the competition. Back in the days gamers struggle a mystery in allmost any game. there was only a pc and your self. you know what todays vs standards.
I agree completely. The games of today are basically mass-production pieces of souless spectacle. For the most part, that is (there are still some gems like Painkiller). But what's so frustrating for me is that a lot of the newer gamers I talk to not only don't notice the lack of life in these products, but actually celebrate their mechanical glitz. They don't care about the magic of a game, or how interesting its world, or how immersive it is, or how much heart and soul it has... if it doesn't provie a glossy-smooth thrillride without any irritations or quirks, it's automatically crap. Its plot has to be a lukewarm sludge drained from Hollywood's back dumpsters, its gameplay has to be instantly accessible and give no possibility of straying off the beaten and polished path... it needs to have all warm artistic charm ground away in the industrial pursuit of cold hard flawlessness.

jefequeso: I've always gotten along well with the old-timers :P. Probably because I'm just as opinionated and bitter as they are.
Don't kid yourself, you're way more idealistic. No I'm not kidding:)
