keeveek: Isn't [gymnastics] the greatest sport of them all?
Krypsyn: I don't know know if it is the greatest, but watching those girls on the beam apparatus gets me every time. Those blind and backwards jumps and flips and cartwheels on that thing... yeesh.
keeveek: But he actually IS a living legend. What's so arrogant in telling the OBVIOUS truth?
Krypsyn: That he felt he had to tell everyone.
LOL, exactly.
It's pretty obvious he's a unique athlete but when he feels he has to keep pointing it out, I think, it's disrespectful to the other athletes in the races with him. It's like he's saying, "Don't even bother competing against me, because I'm miles above where any of you will ever be".
Bloodygoodgames: The latest Bolt comment - "I'm now a legend. I'm the greatest athlete to live". No. not arrogant at all :) Compare Bolt (who I really can't stand), to the American runner Maneto Mitchell who actually broke his leg yesterday while running. He finished the race, with a broken leg, just so he didn't let his 3 team mates down -- and the American team qualified for the finals with the fastest time, even with Mitchell running with a broken leg.
No, Bolt isn't "the greatest athlete to live". Mitchell is probably quite high up there though :)
gameon: Point taken, lol.
The broken leg thing reminds me of the boxer Danny Williams, who once won a fight with one arm (the other was a dislocated shoulder). Incredible.
Wild isn't it that anyone could do that? (And I'm not familiar with Danny Williams - but that's amazing too!
I can't even imagine how much pain Mitchell was in, but he kept going because of the other guys on his team, yet he still wasn't "full of himself" when he was interviewed afterward.
To me, that's a real 'legend' and not one who's so conceited he just has to tell the world how good he is.
