I don't play Minecraft myself, but I thought this article might be of interest to the community. Apparently Mojang has started a a campaign under Lego Cuusoo program to get an official Minecraft Lego Set produced. They need 10,000 votes to get the idea reviewed by Lego. At the time of the publishing of the article below they had just above 2,000.

Royalties will go to charity.
Kinda late there, buddy. ;)
Still, i think it's great news,as long as it'll include the more 'complex' stuff, like pistons.
Anyhow, who, as a kid, didn't want a physical representation of his favorite game?

I have to admit it's been awhile since I've touched a Lego set, but they look pretty different from when I was a kid! Sometimes I fear there is a little less creativity with the expansion of kits meant to build a certain thing in a certain way, but I am sure you can still buy regular lego sets meant to foster creativity. I just don't see them in the store as often now - They had kits when I was a kid too and they were fun (especially in combination with regular lego sets), but it seems, just walking through game sections of stores, that the kits have expanded to predominance.

My favorite Lego application as I got older was when my Dad taught me how to make Lego ballistas and we would use them to fight out duels with my plastic soldiers as targets (just knocking them over).

I share those feelings!
I bet one can still reuse those bigger parts for other creations, but it is pretty limiting.
Someone said, this [MC LEGO] might be cool, and shift LEGO back to it's roots. Well, i wouldn't mind a retro lego set. Then again, if they decide to go with MC textures and models [as LEGO already has skellies], that'll be one ugly set. ;P

Anyhow, there's always this awesomeness, kinda [understandably] pricey, though. :D

Though I don't play the game myself, I would very much agree that a Minecraft Lego set should emphasize creativity and modularity in keeping with the spirit of both Minecraft and Lego.

That's pretty cool. That reminds me of the Capsela sets I had. They were great and the capsules and connections themselves were waterproofed so you could make boats and submarines when you plugged them up. Sadly Wikipedia says they've been discontinued.

Minecraft ain't got shit on lego nerds.

Anyway, Lego's already got a cash cow with overblown popularity in Star Wars. Don't need or want another one.
