You guys know about this?
http://ocremix.org/
Awesome site.
I've been visiting there for a few years.
Picked up loads of remixes, their FF and Doom ones are good, as well as Sonic.
Like any remixes there are some that are pure gold and others which are utter abominations. Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix was particularly vile.
You can't have a thread about game music remixes without the following links:
http://remix.kwed.org/ - THE site for C64 remixes.
http://amigaremix.com/ - And the equivalent site for Amiga remixes, although not nearly as big.
http://www.slayradio.org/home.php - Web radio station playing nothing but C64 and Amiga remixes.
And speaking of which, just because it's in the spirit of the thread, and for the benefit of any Danes (or other nearby nationalities) who may be interested, Press Play On Tape are playing their 10th anniversary concert this saturday on The Rock in Copenhagen.
If you don't know who Press Play On Tape is, they are a C64 remix band (occasionally branching out to other genres) playing on real instruments (and occasionally on game controllers).
You may have seen some of their videos, such as The Boyband Version of Comic Bakery, Cannon Fodder Theme played on game controllers, and recently The Man With The Gun.

Haven't downloaded the remixes for FF yet, But I have for Doom and Sonic, and they are good, indeed.

A lot of the remixes lost any sense of urgency about them this for example is Ryu's theme
Compare that to Capcom's own remix for Street Fighter IV

I see what you mean. At least the remix is not so bad.
synSONIQ is a great place to get official soundtracks. Bjorn Lynne's shop used to feature CDs from other artists, including a remarkable DVD called "Mindcandy, Vol. 1" (I have yet to see a Vol. 2) which featured demos (the computer equivalent of music videos) and cracktros from the Amiga era up till the 2000's. I lost my copy in a move, but if you can find it, I recommend it.

http://www.maz-sound.com/ appears to have the Mind Candy DVDs, as well as other cool stuff.
http://c64audio.com/ is also worth a visit if you're interested in remix CDs.
EDIT: The Mind Candy DVDs also have their own site: http://www.mindcandy.de/. There are three of them, almost. Vol 3 will be released this month, according to the site.
