Hey all.

Can someone let me know what their performance is like with Oblivion at max settings, 4xMSAA and 16xAF forced through the control panel, at a resolution close to 1920x1200?

I decided to finally play the game again (using Francesco's mod) and I was surprised to see that at those settings I get drops into the low 30s in busy areas, I even saw a high 20s a couple of brief times. It seems to mostly be towns, outside I get a steady 50 or so most of the time with dips to the 40s.

I know the engine sucks and will always run a little rough, but I was surprised at the performance because I get 60fps locked in Fallout 3 and New Vegas for the most part. Also I seem to remember the game running better than this last time I played it, which would have been a couple years ago on an older card.

Edit: Oh, I have a GTX 480 and a Q9550 processor, 4GB of RAM, for the record. Windows 7 64bit.

I found the following benchmark videos, maybe they will seem useful to you. You can see the settings used at the start and the performance average at the end.

They are on various setups but with settings always maxed out at 1920x1200. Unfortunately, no MSAA / AF, but they can give you a pretty rough idea of what performance to expect.

Q9550@4.0GHz, NVIDIA GTX 260c216 OC, OBLIVION 1920X1080

ATI 5850 @950MHz Q9550 @4.0GHz OBLIVION 1920X1080

ATI 5850 @1.0GHz CORE i7-860 @4.0GHz OBLIVION 1920X1080

OBLIVION 1920X1080 NVIDIA GTX 460 1GB @850MHz Q9550 @4.0GHz

Thanks for that, I never thought to look up benchmarks on youtube for some reason. Seems the game does still dip into the 40s and such when stuff is going on, even with a processor much better than mine and no AA.

Fucking gamebryo!

Thanks again.
You are welcome! Glad I helped.
