mystral: Mysteries of Westgate wasn't made by Obsidian and is more like the NWN Premium Modules than a real expansion.
From what I've heard of it, it isn't very good either, so I see no reason to buy it.
I heard it's alright if you just want more basic NWN2. In other words it is nothing special and nothing terrible.
Hmm...thats unfortunate; I thought maybe since it was published in 2006 (core game) there might be a chance we'd see it here. I still have my original disks, but one is getting a bad CRC even after cleaning up the disk...sigh...so I can't play it again unless I go to the Atari site. I'd rather buy it one more time, DRM free...and then be able to pick it up again in another 10 years down the road when i get nostalgic :). It really is hard to find games that have good playable content like those good old games....not just impressive graphics.

I'll be a total ass, and quote myself.

exerron: I saw (and bought) NWN2 Gold (factory sealed) on Ebay for 15 bucks plus transportation. While I don't know if it's cheaper to Canada than to Hungary, I paid another 15 for transportation. I still think this is a good buy...it is a very good game, and I long to play it again. Misplaced my original copy unfortunately. Well, I wanted to get Mask of the Betrayer too someday...
It's factory sealed, it contains the two games that matter (Strom of Zehir wasn't too good from what I heard), it's rather cheap, and though it's not much, if you buy it from the same seller ("rarepcgames"), and use the coupon "APPLEPIE", you'll get a 10% discount. Or maybe it only works on their website...dunno.

My copy arrived, it was indeed factory sealed, though the only game with a box was for MotB, and the base game was Handbook+DVD. But Both of them fit in MotB's box. Otherwise, it was in a good condition. i think it's a good buy, if you don't mind the 20-30 bucks.

liquidsnakehpks: i dont think nwn2 was quite liked as much as nwn1 series
For whatever reason that may even be true. I still think that the story in NWN1 sucked big time and that there were no catchy characters at all. I liked NWN2 far more (character and storylike it offers much more than part 1) and think the expansion MotB is just awesome. Some seemed to fnd the "hunger" aspect of MotB annoying, but IMHO it just added to the game at was never a huge problem for me. Sadly MoTB was far to short in the endgame, but the story was friggin great.

I started playing Storm of Zehir and while I liked the idea with the map with random encounters and exploration it never caught me storywise, so I stopped playing soon.

For multiplayer in PnP style (was that in fact possible, I don't remember) it could be great though.

the story of nwn1 is not great?? wow thats a first one i heard, i loved the story and the simple d&d atmosphere chance to unlock chests, disarm traps was fun.whatever part of the game was lacking was added by its expansions , i played nwn2 and felt it was lacking it could be a good game but i would not consider it as a nwn1 successor
i think most gamers would agree that nwn 1 diamond edition is better than nwn2 and its expansions, they made nwn2 far more different and complex to what it should have been
NWN 1 vanilla campaign was horrible. The storyline lacked, it was uninspiring and was typical. It was Hordes.of the Underdark, the 2nd exppack that was epic. So was MoTB. One thing nwn2 had over nwn1 was party control like in BG, nwn1 was mostly just controlling ur own character. But multiplayer wise and custom modules, nwn1 is way better.
Isn't there a NWN 3 coming out in 2011 Q3?

I have to agree that the story of NWN was not that great. It was okay, I liked it and I think it was a very good game all in all, but NWN2's story was better in my oppinion, despite not being so great either. MotB's story on the other hand is very good. I liked NWN2 far more than NWN and I can't really understand why so many finds it to be the other way around. It's not that I can't accept it, but simply don't understand how it was "lacking" (apart from the game breaking bugs, but Obsidian will be Obsidian).
I don't see how NWN2 is too complex. A party of four is easily managable, and the AI is decent enough so that the fighters can fight properly without much interfence on your part, and using magic is cool enough to be enjoyable.

NWN 3? There were some rumors about an MMORPG, but I sure hope they won't turn another excellent series into an online money-mine. KOTOR and Warcraft are enough to bear with...

predcon: Isn't there a NWN 3 coming out in 2011 Q3?
There is an MMO in the works that's supposed to be like the original NWN on AOL.
It's not really NWN 3, though. Nothing I've heard about it made me think it's more than another generic grindfest.

I'm just asking because when I was doing some final X-Mas shopping last night on Amazon I saw an item in the PC Games department named "Neverwinter Nights 2011". The box art is a mock-up and the release date was probably also premature.

[Edit]
Here's a link. Notice how it says "Not Official Box Art".

Wasn't there a kind of MMO mod for Neverwinter Nights 1?
I found The World of Layonara which might be it.

This is the game in question. Its name is simply Neverwinter.
And this is the official site.

FUCKING TEASER WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's hope it's suitably awesome.
4th edition rules and diablo-like game-play with no PVP, nor ability to make persistent worlds is what definitely ruin NWN spirit once and for all. Hopefully the hardcore community still resists on both NWNs.
