The worst time for me losing a save was with Frontier Elite II on my Amiga 4000. The CPU card died, so I stuck it in a box and forgot about it for 10 years. Last year I decided to look into getting the CPU card finally repaired. After doing so, plugged it all in and fired it up only to find the hard drive had expired through lack of use in those 10 years. :(

The Frontier Commander I had on there had an Elite ranking that I spend much of the 1990s developing.........*sigh*

Daynov: When I first played Fallout 2, towards the end there was a boxing ring in San Francisco. I had a low Unarmed skill but decided to participate anyway. Made it somehow to the last fight and saved while I was in combat. Apparently saving in combat is bad and the save file got messed up. Didn't have a backup save and I previously had lost my car also due to a bug. Rage quitted right there.

Took me a year to come back and complete the game. Still in my top 5 of all time though.
Yeah, anyone who thinks quality problems are a feature solely of modern games really didn't play previous gens' games upon release:)

Still, I'm with you, Fallout 2 is a good game, I just don't know why one of my favorite franchises is plagued with bug ridden releases no matter who is actually developing them.
