Visit lands you probably didn't heard of, or build and manage a prosperous empire!

It's day number six of our extravagant [url=http://www.gog.com/NoDRMSummer]2013 #NoDRM Summer Sale, and we've prepared for you another pair of bundle deals that will appeal to retro-gamers and indie fans alike. Today's themes: great indie RPGs you could have missed that we think really deserve your attention and classic strategies of the ever-popular city builder sub-genre. Take a look at all the fun and challenge that can make your Sunday evening full of #NoDRM gaming joy!

In the RPG Rarities Bundle, we offer you a selection of five recent notable indie role-playing titles for only $14.95. Each and single one of them is unique and special in its very own way. Evoland is as much of a console-style action-RPG, as it is a nostalgic retrospective of this genre presenting its evolution from the early 8-bit era to modern times. Anodyne also draws inspiration from Zelda-like titles, but uses these time-proven gameplay ideas to tell a allegoric story of an inner trip into one's own subconsciousness. Sword of The Stars: The Pit is a fun and addictive modern roguelike game delivering a great level of challenge and replayability in a colorful, yet ominous, hard-SciFi setting. The Real Texas provides unexpectedly deep and refined gameplay mechanics paired with a zany, yet at times thought-provoking story and colorful and silly art-style. Finally, there's Costume Quest taking us on a Halloween-themed trip into the land of kids' imagination executed with Double Fine's signature charm and creative gameplay mechanics. All of these games truly deserve to become a part of your collection, but we know they get often overlooked in the company of larger and more celebrated RPG titles that are aplenty on GOG.com. You can see what you've probably been missing out on for 75% less than usually.

There are few genres available in our catalog that can be compared in their popularity to the RPGs. Managerial strategy, especially of the city-building and managing kind, is one of them. Today, with 70% discount, you can grab the Builder's Boon Bundle, a whole pack of such games. The phenomenal Hellenic Acropolis (Zeus+Poseidon) and its Egyptian counterpart Pharaoh + Cleopatra will allow you to raise the legendary empires to their full ancient glory. Children of The Nile will allow you to stay even longer in the amazing setting of ancient Egypt and rule the people from generation to generation, thus forming a dynasty destined for immortal memory. Caesar 3 will let you witness, protect, and build even further the glory of Rome. In Lords of Magic you'll get to run your very own fantastic kingdom, taking car of its military, resources, and even diplomacy. Finally, Lords of the Realm: Royal Edition (1+2) and Lords of the Realm 3 will take you back to the medieval times, where your rule can turn the tide of historical events. All that multi-layered and deep strategic goodness can be yours for only $16.13!

That's it from us today. Have fun, enjoy our #NoDRM Summer Sale, and remember to drop by tomorrow for a new set of special deals!

Ghorpm: I prefer Pharaoh but I must admit - it's mostly due to the nostalgia... But if we put aside emotions Zeus is probably a better game, but not without some flaws. It's a pity that they dumbed it down too much. It was very hard (and very, very rewarding) to develop your housing to the top level in Pharaoh while it's too easy in Zeus. Dealing with gods is another example - you had to be careful to maintain a delicate balance in Pharaoh while in Zeus it's pretty much straight forward: some gods are angry with you and they will remain angry. Others like you and you have to build a sanctuary for them to make them help you. Not a big deal.

tinyE: Good thing I picked up Zeus then. "Dumbed It Down" is my middle name. Well actually its...ummmm....hmmmm....

Maybe it actually is "Dumbed it Down".
I call it "Less Micromanagement" which is a good thing.

nijuu: Paypal?

Endzville: So it does! Thanks for the heads up.

So, yeah, if anyone has the chance to buy Sword of the Stars at 75% off, I'd gladly transfer the couple of dollars through that.
Same here.

bansama: Please just put the individual games on sale for 75% off and be done with it! Ugh =/

Oh well. Still no Real Texas for me. I am not buying games I already own elsewhere just to get that at 75% off. 50% off still makes it a little too expensive for me too. Maybe in the Xmas sale then?
I totally agree. I still haven't bought any game since the summer sale started. If games could be bought separately at those prices, I would have bought at least 3 or 4 games. But this way: 0.

nijuu: Thanks for the feedback guys about Pharoah and Zeus. I may end up getting both at some point. Anyone got the Builder Boon bundle? hahaha
It seems to be a perfect solution ;)

It's kinda annoying. Some of them aren't a big deal because they haven't really been cheaper elsewhere, but then you get things like Costume Quest, Deus Ex, and Thief that have constantly had 75% sales individually.

Deus Ex was on sale for 75% off the same time as GOG had it for 50% off. And it has a lower base price. Still on sale http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/action/deus-ex-game-year-edition/

I'm guessing GOG thinks they can afford to do that as they own the only DRM-free version.

Nice, I own nothing from first bundle and every single game from the second.

I think Pharaoh is much better than Zeus. Zeus is done a bit differently and it doesn't click with me much.

If someone is interested in individual games from Builder pack, I can buy any for 70% discount.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing... there were some aspects that were better in Pharaoh. For example: In Zeus you want to develop all your housing (both ordinary and elite) as much as possible. Period. Nothing complicated here.

In Pharaoh, however, you have to be careful about it. True, rich people pays more taxes but at some point they feel so important and enlighten that they refuse to work. So you cannot have only rich districts because you will end up with nobody running your buildings. You need a few less developed districts just to keep things running. But! Too many slums areas and the reputation of your city will drop and you will not be able to fulfill the requirements to finish the mission. Man! I LOVE stuff like that! And despite my not so good description it is not THAT complicated. You just have to consider it in your calculations before developing a city. I really love it!

WHich of the Builder Boon Bundle might be worth it?.
Pharoah & Cleopatra vs Zeus & Poseidon v Caesar III (i have it on disk somewhere around here)?. which is better?
Not sure we've established which of these is better as they all had supporters although Zeus seemed to have more so far.
But can I throw Children of the Nile into the debate as that's the one that sounds the most interesting to me.
What sayeth you all? Well, I guess not all...just the ones who've played it. Thanks.
Pretty disappointed at this year summer sale. :/

"Bundles" everywhere..

Agreed. Perhaps GOG can make it like "build a bundle". So when someone choose 2 or 3 games, the 75% discount can be applied. I think that way GOG also can make more sales. Rather than make people to buy something they don't want to...

Well, for "game collectors" the current collective discount is really good. But for someone like me that don't want to buy games I own elsewhere, it is not.

This way I guess I'll just wait for Holiday sale too
Finally bought the RPG Bundle

Anodyne + Evoland + Sword of the Stars: The Pit = Yey! :)

..and reluctantly...

Costume Quest = boo-hiss :P

That's +$3 I could have spent on a game I will actually play..oh well.
Build a bundle sounds really nice.
Building a bundle might work as long as the minimum for getting 75% off was 2 games (if GOG really don't want to just offer a flat out 75% off). At least that way, depending on the games offered, you'd only have to waste money on one game you already own to get the game you actually want.
Thanks again GOG! Love the promo(s)!

Skunk: They're all gonna be repeats again, aren't they? I'm sure somebody is excited about this. Unfortunately, I can't say that somebody is me.
I'd guess so, which is a good thing for many who faced a huge decision in a single day! Unfortunately, not for me though, too. I grabbed everything I could find a reason to buy.

GOG, here's a suggestion:

I believe your promo would be even better if you would mix your "all-or-nothing" with "most-or-nothing" bundles. The one thing that has stopped me from buying a lot of games is the concept of e.g. 75% off, but only if I buy ALL of the ones in a bundle. If not: 50% off, and well nearly the entire catalog is 50% off! The thing is - in most of the bundles yesterday I really wanted perhaps 30% of the package, was interested in 60%-80% of it, and had no interest at all in the rest.

So my choice was to either buy games I do not want, or to skip the deal all together - which I did in most cases - and instead perhaps buy a few of those in the "really wanted" category sometime before July. As soon as you untick a single game you loathe ;-), the bundle page becomes kinda pointless! At the very least: Without a simple way to be able gift individual games in a bundle*** you're faced with buying games you do not want, to consider any bundle not 100% suited to your taste.

So what about some "most-or-nothing" bundles in the mix, if possible? I.e. "Pick at least 8 out of 10 - save 75%", for example? I'm convinced it would generate significant more sales and, spoiled as we are, we'd be even more happy! ...and spoiled. ;-)

Taking myself and the 7 games "Builders' Boon Bundle" as an example, there's:

1. 1 game I really want - I'd buy this at 50% off in no time. (I have this one)
2. 1 game I want - and *might* buy at 50% off.
3. 2 games I'd enjoy - wouldn't buy at 50% off though as they're so similar to the "really want" one.
4. 1 game I have no direct interest in - but would pick up if that would grant me 70% on the bundle.
5. 2 games I do not want at all.

So, in this example, it looks like I'll either spend $0.00, or (in my case) $13.14 for the whole bundle. Or just pick items 2. and 3. above for $12.97. From at the above, it seems I'll hang on to that money though. In my case, should this bundle be "5 out of 7", there's no doubt I'd spend $9.60 and felt I'd bought games I will enjoy. Anyway, this was just an example and that deal might be too "sweet", but this reasoning stopped me from considering a lot of games I wanted yesterday, and I certainly believe I'm not alone.

In any case: Again, thanks for your epic promo! And I hope this feedback is of any use!

***And that was another suggestion while I'm at it btw! An easy way to gift separate games in a promo would make the "all-or-nothing" less of a problem: i.e. more sales. And it would also be a good way for us to give friends more reasons to join GOG: give them a favorite game of theirs.. :-P

Has anyone seen this? http://tiltedmill.com/medieval-mayor/

The upcoming spiritual successor (same devs) of Zeus, Pharaoh etc
Didn't GOG already have a sort of build-a-bundle in the past? Something like 5 games for $10. It was actually my first GOG purchase IIRC.

But yeah, something like that would be awesome.
