They don't need to be on translator side, just look at some posters or advertises written in creative 'engrish' in asian countries. ;-)

What's more amusing, usually asian people know english better than their own language or many native speakers.

R-Type was one of the ones I enjoyed and was actually decent at! I really enjoyed Xenon 2 on the Amiga :)

Galaga was the shmup I remember playing shitloads of in the 80s. There was a machine near my school that we found out accepted 2c coins instead of 20c, so we took days off school to exploit it lol

:D I played some Galaga and Space Invaders too... but never on arcades, there I played more of those Bullet Hells type I guess (DonPachi, Raiden III)
But my favorite always been Gradius III and Salamander...
