I admit to being a fan of Miller's original graphic novels before the first film and actually really loved it, but am not getting my hopes up for this one despite liking many of the casting choices.
Even though I like Josh Brolin very much I can't really see him as Dwight McCarthy, and he's one of my favorite characters. I really hope the trailer just doesn't make him justice and I'll like the actual movie and character representations, but I guess only time will tell.

Almost exactly how I feel.
Lately, sequels have been shit so I doubt this one will be different. :( They just can't resist the temptation to make quick and easy cash... But I might watch it anyway for the movie theater experience and to support move theaters.

I had posted a month or two ago about this being the movie of the summer that I was most interested in... It LOOKS good, but then it seems like they could make watch paint dry LOOK good for a few mins.
I honestly think they took way to long with this sequel, the excitement has died down. When it first came out there was nothing like it, as it was literally a graphic novel coming to life with incredible visuals and unique story telling. The first Sin City was one of my favorite movies that year and I was really looking forward to more stories from that world. But it has been a very long wait so I saw this new trailer and it looks really cool but the WOW factor is gone, I think this one has to be a really good yarn otherwise I don't see this topping the first movie.

I was excited by Eva Green in the trailer though and not just for the obvious reasons as she really seems to be bringing it like in all of her roles, which she manages to do even if the movie isn't that good for example in Dark Shadows. I just hope the movie has some great dialogue and character interactions like the first one. The sequence with Dwight and Jackie Boy in the first movie which was guest directed by Tarantino was one of my favorite parts from the movie.

I am not into graphic novels (nothing against them, they're just not my kind of medium) but I loved the first movie. I hope the second one is better than the trailer is because I did not like it, they should have made it shorter to tease us instead of making us think of a Kill Bill imitation in black and white.

I second that. She really is quite talented. :)

Honestly, I find that scene utterly cringeworthy. It's misdirected and would have worked perfectly if Jackie Boy didn't move at all during the conversation. He should have been nothing but a corpse with a disembodied voice. Now that would have been both fascinating and disturbing.

I only just saw this advert today and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed the first film, so I think I will go pick that up tomorrow.
I do hope this film is done well, but I will wait for it to be released and reviewed before I get up too much hope.

Frank Miller is one of the directors himself, so I'm guessing they'll try to stick to the original dialogue and scenes as possible. I'm not too concerned about that. I'm mostly afraid that the cast changes for re-appearing characters won't live up to the original actors. I really do hope I'm proved wrong and this movie is at least as good as the first one.
