I just joined the site and was extremely pleased to find the Lords of the Realm Royal Collection. I used to play it all the time when I was younger. I was wondering if when I purchase the game is it available to download and play immediately on my computer? And has anyone had trouble running this game on their computer?

Yeah, it's available to download and play immediately. It lists up to Windows 7, so it should work fine.

Also for general information GOG has been around a long time, is very trusted, and the games are available for DRM free download as soon as you pay from your "my account" tab at the top of the page.

But I haven't tried too hard since to get it to work and not everyone has had that problem. So you may not run into it at all or it may be easy to fix for you (there were a few suggestions in the thread).

However, in general GOG does a good job of making sure even its old games are compatible and it is a reputable site. The games can be installed either by browser or GOG's home-brewed downloader and, as aforementioned by StingingVelvet, are DRM-free. However, as with all PC gaming, with so many different machine configs, it can be hard to fix all problems for all games. The community and GOG's official support will be there to help when able.

The games use DosBox , and it's a good thing, because you may alter the game config to your preferences.

I, for example, prefer to play in a window.

Lords of the realm is a great game to start your journey with GOG, no doubt.

When you buy a game on gog, you download the DRM-Free installer, then you install the game just as any oridinary game. Then you start it from a desktop shortcut ;-)
