It's been quite a while since our last pinball release so we'd like to make up for it by giving you 5 titles for the price of one - the uber-nostalgic Pinball Gold Pack.

So, how does the Pinball Gold Pack compare to the other pinball releases on GOG.com? First of all, you get five games - Pinball Dreams 1 and 2, Pinball Fantasies, Pinball Mania, and Pinball Illusions, each featuring four pinball tables. That's twenty tables in total, each with a unique theme. The physics are reasonable, but can hardly be compared to those found in newer, more technologically advanced pinball games, for obvious reasons. There's one thing the Pinball Gold Pack has that its younger cousins don't - the sheer oldschool, nostalgic feeling you get when you play it. The fact that the game used .MOD files for music, in order to save space, might bring a tear to some of you PC veterans' eyes, too. Care to take a trip back in time for less than 10 bucks?

Zeewolf: I have to agree with StarEye, the PC-version of Pinball Dreams does not seem to have the proper ball physics that the Amiga version had. It seems a lot simpler. That's disappointing, Pinball Dreams was excellent on the Amiga.

Fantasies was my favourite, though, so if that's okay I'm not going to complain about it. But the sloppy PC-version and somewhat poor Spidersoft games (Mania and Dreams 2) would have been a good reason to include SlamTilt to increase the overall quality. Maybe Rebellion never got the rights to that one.

Neikius: Which version of pinbal illusions did they include, the one with 4 tables or the one with 3? Iirc the version with 4 tables circulating had broken music. So if we get the version with 4 and without broken music I am getting this. Someone ?

Zeewolf: It has four tables.

I did not notice any broken music, in what way is it supposed to be wrong?
As far as I remember music stopped after multiball and similar. If you play a bit you notice fast so I guess this is the fixed version we never had :)
Oh, ok. I don't think I ever got a multiball, I just wanted to check how everything was working on each game. Maybe someone else can confirm if it works properly or not.
can someone please explain to me why there isn't any bonus content at all?

there are so many games here...are you really saying you couldnt find any extra goodies for any of them?

Hihi can anyone tell me whether this game includes controller support?
Why would you want controller support in a pinball game? And that's coming from someone who enjoys playing FPS's with a controller.

Regardless, it's not supported natively, but it should be an easy task to set up something like Xpadder or Joy2Key so that you can use your controller. There's not a lot of keys in the around eight in total. Two for the flippers, one for add player, one for the escape button (quit table/game), two for yes and no, one for shoot ball, and one for tilt. Should be fairly simple.
Actually, there is controller support in DOSBox. By default, in the DOSBox<VARIES BY GAME>.conf file there is a section called [joystick] and the value to be set (at least to start) is joystick=auto. Once in the game, hitting CTRL-F1 will bring up a key mapper program that you can use to map keyboard keys to your controller.

Also, on a different note, I found that on my 7 year old tablet PC, I still had to set/change the following to: fulldouble=false and machine=vgaonly in order to get, at least, the Pinball Fantasies table working well.

I hate using keyboard with pinball games as a controller makes me feel like I'm actually playing a pin with the trigger buttons simulating the flippers. I never play virtual pins with the keyboard. It just feels so wrong to me.

Thanks mcgamer. Your answer worked out fine. Yippee!

Just bought it yesterday as I loved to play Pinball Dreams 1 and Pinball Fantasies on the Amiga. The music is great - Stones'n'Bones is a classic spooky table I still love to play for hours! I don't mind that other - worse - pinball games are included. It's "for free"! I'm just a bit diappointed that the graphics on my 2,5 GHz CPU / 8GB RAM / 512 MB nVidia GT9400 computer are far less smooth than on my Amiga 1000 many years ago ...

But there are many more good pinball games out there. So, please don't stop releasing good pinball games, GOG.com team!
