The first survival horror game, in style of American slasher movies, joins the GOG.com's catalogue for $9.99
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/obscure]ObsCure is a survival horror title which features an offline cooperative mode. The game introduces five (out of a possible six) playable characters - students of Leafmore High and eventually puts you in shoes of one of them. The plot soon shows you that the school is not what it seemed to be (no spoilers, though!). What sets this game apart from others of its kind is that you don't play a single character, but you choose from among six characters. Most often you will be teamed with an AI-controlled character, which another player can take control of at any time. Definitely a must-have for any fan of the, increasingly rare, survival horror genre.
high rated
I wrote today that it's my "Definitely must buy" title and I didn't have to wait long :)

Ughhhhhh........I have 2 birthday parties to attend this month, and have already splurged a handful of greens on presents. Stop doing this to me GOG :(((((
On top of that, I still have a pair of nice shoes and shirts calling out to me from the shops...
If this is anything like Silent Hill or the early Resident Evil games, then meh. The controls in those games suck ass, making it more frustrating than scary.
I wish I wasn't broke now.
*sigh*
If you like The Faculty movie go and buy it but controls are not so good. You will die a lot because of this and this makes people mad.
Yay! Obscure in an entirely Starforce-disinfected version. Immediate buy.
Umm... pass.
I'm sure this was a budget game on initial release, and although I really want to buy it.... $9.99 apears a bit steep.
But it is GOG.com, and they are as cool as &*^%, so what the hell.
Waiting to see the Thursday release and the weekend promo before I decide to pick it up or not. Some feedback from those who did pick it up now would be appreciated.
Survival Horror has interested me enough to look at it now & then, but has failed to capture me so far.
I'll put it on my 'possible future' pile, which is getting increasing large due to me not finishing the games I previously purchased and won as a prize. This is why we need a 8th day of the week just for catching up on gaming.

Yeah, me too. I'm interested in this one, but I also want to see what other offers might turn up this week.

I'll be sure to buy it as soon as I can.
- Great ambiance
- Great soundtrack
- Good Co-op mechanism (way before Resident Evil 5 (although there's no online mode)
I already bought a retail copy and I loved it. But sadly, StarForce prevents me from playing on my Vista laptop. I'd be more than happy to re-buy it (and it's half the price of my retail copy).
The coop mode is definitely the star of the show here. I completed this on the PS2, and loved it as a coop-experience. I probably wouldn't have had the patience to do it alone, as it does have many of the flaws (or "features", depending on your viewpoint) of the survival horror genre. Fans of the genre should probably buy it, others should maybe find out if they have someone to play it with first. If they do: Yay.
Never really got iton the survival horror before but going to give this a try looks to be a good game and love all the extras with it.
