Today we're releasing the fifth installment of the Settlers series, which gives us two Settlers games in the GOG.com catalogue. If you like the series, this should be a no-brainer.
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/heritage_of_kings_the_settlers] Heritage of Kings: The Settlers is a real-time strategy game with some RPG elements. Aside from the modern graphics, hailing from the year 2005, Heritage of Kings introduces new gameplay elements, which make the overall experience more interesting and generally were well-received by most fans of the series. You can now build refineries, to better use the scarce resources at your disposal and also upgrade buildings, to increase productivity without using up more space for new buildings. These and some other new features will come in handy if you wish to build a thriving settlement and bring peace to the land.
Is the expansion pack included?

Unfortunately not. :-(
Hmmm, I'm intrigued....
It looks interesting; I like the Settlers, and this one looks cool.
A question to those who've played it. Does it only contain the campaign mode, or is there an "unlimited" option like in the 2nd installment?

Damn =( That's a real shame.
You'd think that with a name "The Settlers" it would actually play like the old settlers games, but it doesn't.
It's just a Warcraft 3 clone, nothing to do with Settlers. Personally I find it to be a horrible game, and I wonder what it's doing on Good old Games.
I played this back around release and found it initially good, but as the game wore on it got a bit more stale and repetitive, with lengthy scenarios that focused a lot on building and resource management, and combat mechanics I couldn't quite get the grip of.
Stil an okay grab for Settlers / Slow-paced RTS fans, but as I said expect to use a lot of time building up and managing the same resource chain for virtually every scenario after the first few.

The same as C&C: Generals has nothing to do with C&C series.
I'll give it a shot though, but I'd like to find Settlers 3 and 4 here too.

Excellent! More games to have a look at. Can't say I've heard of this one before, but I shall nontheless look at what it has to offer.
And for those who say things are too crap or new to be on gog, well, I think that through many of the discussions on this board its safe to say that both the words "Good" and "Old" are quite subjective ;)

It ain't a bad game, but it's simply no Settlers anymore. So Settler Fans may easely be decieved by this game

Sure and the same can be said about the new wolfenstein vs the old one, but thats beside the point as this is the game we're discussing now, picking out examples and saying "it's the same over there" doesn't make it any better here.
Looks interesting enough. I prefer the slower RTS games, so I may grab it sometime.

Not so sure about that, gameplay-wise it doesn't have much to do with the classics. It's more of a "cash-in on the series reputation"-type sequel.
klaymen: It's not really the same, as this game isn't really in the same genre as the earlier games. They were more like city builders with warfare, this is just an RTS.

Are there any indications, Ubisoft will offer both addons?
