With another release from the new wave of Atari titles hitting GOG.com's catalogue, we're answering another question - what game made you feel like a hero? It's Demon Stone.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/forgotten_realms_demon_stone]Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone is an action RPG set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons: Forgotten Realms. Players take control of a party of heroic characters which include a fighter, a sorcerer and a rogue. Each of the characters have their own set of skills and require a different approach to the gameplay. The really cool feature of the game is that you can switch between your heroes anytime you need to fully take advantage of their abilities and perform deadly team attacks. Hack-and-slash gameplay and nice looking graphics are accompanied by enthralling story by R.A. Salvatore, great soundtrack and top notch voice acting. Action-RPG fans get another gem to their precious collection.
How well does this game work when played with a ten foot pole? I'm afraid that's my prerequisite for touching anything with R.A. Hackatore's name on it...
Decent game, but not worth the 9,99 bucks.
Damn, and I thought Atari was scraping the bottom of the barrel with Dragonshard.

tarangwydion: I have this still laying about somewhere and have not played it. I guess I'll search for it later and perhaps finally play it.
Now I remember why I did not play it back then: I do not like the save game system. Well, I might still give a chance and force myself to play it anyway in a couple of days.
It's a good game palyed it on my old PS2. Driz'zt does make an appearance and if the gameplay's same in PS2, you can control him in some parts of the game...
+1 for the Eye of the Beholder games & Gold Box SSI games. They were actually good and would be an instant buy for me!
Alright, I had started to play this game, have not finished it yet and am stuck in Chapter 8 or 9. My short review:

LIKE:
(*). Monster variety.
(*). Zhai's stealth kill. If only there are more like this.
(*). You get to meet and play as Drizzt Do'Urden, albeit briefly.
(*). Graphics are of course not top notch, but quite nice.
(*). Captain Picard's voice over.
(*). Does not seem to overstay its welcome, although some gamers might want longer games (the game length is fine with me, and I still have not finished it yet).

DISLIKE:
(*). Stupid save game system.
(*). Ridiculous camera works and its affect on keyboard controls.
(*). No inventory.
(*). Sometimes missing voice over on movies, thank goodness for subtitles.
(*). Annoying save game system.
(*). Disorienting camera works.

It is frustrating at times, especially with the damned save game system. Oh, and did I mention I hate the camera works?

How long did it take you to get where you are?

How are are items handled then?

Vitek: How long did it take you to get where you are?
Several hours... I do not remember the exact time, but perhaps about 45 minutes to an hour per chapter. Yeah, I suck at the controls (and I even play it at Easy). It should have been much shorter for veteran gamers.

I was hoping for a feature to stock some healing potions/scrolls (so I can use them in game) rather than hoping for enemies to drop them. This surely would make the game less frustrating for me.

So what exactly is the save game system that people keep complaining about? I haven't had the chance to get the game yet.
After lots of cursing and patience... well, patience to curse some more :-P I finally managed to pass Chapter 9. Damn, I hate that dragon! Hopefully the final Chapter 10 won't be as frustrating. Here's hoping I finish the game tonight.

Oh, and I found one more thing I dislike: unskippable cutscenes. They are irritating when you have to replay a portion of the chapter again and again.

Maybe not people, just a person: me. I hate it when a game does not allow me to save anytime, anywhere. If say I only have an hour to play a chapter, then I cannot finish it because of the frustrating part in the end of it, I will have to replay the chapter from the start again the next day. To me that only serves to frustrate more and is a laziness on the developers' part.

ArbitraryWater: I don't remember this game being especially well received, but I guess since they've exhausted all the good D&D RPGs that Atari-Hasbro is allowed to distribute they have to go somewhere with that license from here.

kalirion: Don't the have the rights to the EoB games, gold box, etc?
I remember that the EoB games were developed by Westwood who were bought out by EA, IIRC.

No, you weren't the only one. Thanks for explaining.
Hoookay... soooo I finally finished this game. I do not recall the exact hours, but it should not have been more than 12 hours, in which more than a couple of hours were spent on that frustrating Chapter 9.

I notice the intro and outro do not have subtitles: another bad point for the game.

I'd say I give this game a score of 45 out of 100.
