Not trying to scare you or anything but I think you should be prepared for what you'll have to put up with.

I worked in retail for 7 months at one time and I can attest to having to put up with things that made no sense at all.
I hate to say it, but practically every job out there treats their employees with utter contempt. Sadly, that's just the way it goes. I'm glad i only have 20 more years to go. Good luck with that new job.

For the OP: Try not to worry, everyone makes mistakes in the beginning, ask alot of (stupid) questions and pay attention, always be on time to work and everything should work out just fine. Good luck.

CymTyr: You'll be fine. You probably won't get asked too much about pc games though. The local gamestop here doesn't even have a full space for pc games, they're condensed into 1/2 a rack in a corner.

I used to work for them, they were great employers until we got a new store manager that gave me zero hours every week until I quit. Don't let that stop you though, you'll do great.
I hear that the reason for them giving you 0 hours until you quit is because they don't want you to collect unemployment or something after you're done working there. I heard it in a rant video from someone that worked at Gamestop.

Yep, thats exactly what they do when they want to get rid of you without paying unemployement insurance. Total chickenshit if you ask me.

Yeah, but the unemployment insurance folks tend to reward it. Around here you can get unemployment if you quit, but only if you have a good reason for quitting. And the adjudicators that handle the cases virtually always side with the employer, even if it's obvious that the employer was violating labor law.

Unfortunately in California if you quit your job, you get no unemployment insurance at all, if fact if they (former employer) fires you for some 'suspect' reason they can appeal, and if they win the case the amount you recieved becomes the money you owe.
I'm also starting a new job soon. Next Monday in fact. I have been working my last job for four years. That's a long time to be used to doing things a certain way. I am not at all looking forward to establishing myself in a new environment. It's something everyone goes through though, I suppose.
thank you everyone fer the help im still nervous {maybe alil more so now XD lol} but at least its normal and something that will go away with time on the job ^.^
