lukaszthegreat: i see. reading it atm. thx. makes more sense than whining about graphics in game such ja.
I'm with the "is this still JA?" crowd. With so many changes, and that sad incident with the fans [regarding turns], i don't think this game knows where it's going. It seems as if it was made for the fans, by pissing on them. I honestly don't know where these guys are trying to aim.
Anyhow, my original concept for a post in this thread was "meh", but i though it would offend the GOG crowd, because it would look like pointless trolling.
Thing is, i can see the battle for JA is already lost, not much more can be said and done. So, all i can do, in terms of resistance to this game is "meh".

Anyhow, i suggest checking out the Bear's Pit Jagged Alliance Forum for some constructive criticism on the title.

kalirion: Yes, the screenshots look like that of a 10 year old game. There is no reason in hell why it needs better hardware than Crysis when it looks that much worse!
Crysis is FPS not tactical strategy game.

and you are what i hate about gamers.

YOU ARE FUCKING HYPOCRITES!

every frigging time someone creates a thread about what is most important thing in games everyone say: gameplay, story, characters, design. and everyone say that graphics is not that important.

yet when i game is being released with less than stellar graphics a game which doesnt need it... NO. IT CANNOT HAVE CRYSIS LEVEL GRAPHICS AS IT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE SO MANY PROCESSES AT A SINGLE TIME, people whine. God like i hate that whining.

I am sorry for that outburst but i didn't expect to see this kind of thread here on gog and i did not expect to see it from you of all people.

it still can be a great game (probably not) but i understand your feelings.

had same experience with fallout 3 but losing turn base combat was actually not an issue for me (as fallout didn't have very strong combat system)
and i shall visit bear's pit as per your suggestion.

lukaszthegreat: snip
FIY I currently do all my gaming on a crappy laptop. Recently beat Cthulhu Saves The World on it - that should show you how much I care about graphics. All I'm saying is that based on the screenshots provided, said crappy laptop should be able to max the game. The fact that the game requires a GPU that's about 30x more powerful means it is horribly optimized, and does not leave much hope for gameplay, story, etc.

I KNOW THAT!. that is why i was so pissed seeing you making this thread

it is not FPS.

First person shooters can push graphics to the limit because they are extremely simple games. graphics is what is complex about them, not the game design. Not AI, not a big world, no lots of non-graphics related data to process.

strip them from graphics and crysis can be run on pentium 2 (without sound tough.)

From my knowledge of JA i would be worried if the game had great graphics. that would mean that graphics are using the power of the system.

Furthermore;
9800 is not a good gpu anymore. it was 3 years ago. It will be even worse in 2012. it being a minimum and not 8800 comes also for making sure the game supports most often used hardware. that they cannot guarantee that a game will run on 8000 gpus.

and the game does not look as bad as you say. especially for a game which still is 8 months away.

JA3 requirements are average. nothing special for modern pc . Except GPU which is an antique now. The game will probably suck for various other reasons but your opening post was completely unfair.
This new Jagged Alliance isn't going to be made by the same guys that made Jagged Alliance 2. It's going to be made by the same guys that made the Germany's Next Topmodel game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coreplay So most likely, it will be nothing like Jagged Alliance 2. I don't know if it will suck or not though.

GOG community, you have disappointed me.
Shouldn't you be complaining about the downright terrible gameplay mechanics compared to the original JA2 (the lack of turn based combat) as opposed to moaning about graphics (which look fine)?

But we already complained about terrible gameplay. We really did. So I don't know why we shouldn't complain about graphics now. :-) (Yeah, I know I complained about graphics in the last thread too but it was about component that was made worse than in JA2)
Sorry for necroing this but I saw something that left me stumbled and I have to ask about it somewhere. Yesterday Steam News popped on me with announcement about pre-orders for JA: Back in Action. This pre-order contains bonus items namely SCAR gun, kevlar helmet and camouflaged shirt or something like that. I don't have experiences with bonus items so I might be wrong (that's why I am asking) but does it really mean there won't be Kevlar Helmet contained in game unless you get it from pre-orders or as DLC? Seriously? So they are creating remake and thy'll left one of three type of helmets contained in original game (is it right? I think there was Helmet, Kevlar helmet and Spectra Helmet, right?) and boast about giving bonus to pre-orders?

nagytow: Honestly? Not too excited. Too many disappointments with the remakes/sequels. Gonna wait till the reviews.
Same here.
Waiting for the review from my favorite magazine and from people who played it.
After searching through that link I see the minimum requirements have changed ( the old minimum requirements are now the recommended requirements)

I always thought those old min specs seemed pretty crazy

hehe. This game looks like Hired Guns: Jagged Edge and has requirements 3 times higher.

I smell a crappy game, gentlemen!

And if anybody thinks CPU req. are high because of the game complexity and not because of crappy coding, you're pretty much naive :P
